"I have stayed in 100s of Hotels. I now try to avoid the chrome & glass gin palace type. I use budget hotels for a one night stay. However this was a 5 day break to celebrate my partners 60th birthday. The Hotel was wonderful, historic building but maintained well. Lovely staff who made us feel very welcome. A lovely cooked to order breakfast and the evening meal was cooked to perfection and our waiting staff were better than most restaurants. The room was perfect, cleaned when we required and the location is perfect. There is a bus to town every 15mins which is just 3 stops away. If you are visiting Bath this is the best hotel to stay in."

"Affordable and good value for money. It's not too far from the city center, you can walk there or take a bus and it's just a short walk from the bus stop. The room was clean, though the walls were a bit thin, and I could hear people while trying to sleep."

The Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel is a magnificent 18th Century country house. The hotel enjoys a tranquil village location, yet lies just a 10-minute drive away from Bath and its natural hot springs. With a truly romantic setting, the hotel is ideal for short breaks and long weekends, though thanks to this wonderful location you might be tempted to stay a few more nights. Peace and quiet are ever present at the Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel. The superbly appointed lounges, open log fires and comfortable bedrooms all see to that, whilst many of these bedrooms boast outstanding view across the Avon Valley. Originally built in the 18th Century, this country mansion is as splendid as ever, with guests enjoying the serenity of a quiet location as well as the convenience of a hotel near Bath. Of course, as one of the countrys oldest cities dating back to Roman times, Bath is full of historic buildings and ruins, gardens and, of course, the Baths themselves. However, with such spectacular views from the hotel, the Best Western Limpley Stoke offers a host of its own sightseeing opportunities.

"I am highly disappointed with our recent stay. We paid a premium price and the room we were given looked absolutely nothing like the bright, spacious photos advertised on their website. Our room was significantly smaller and darker. It also felt dated and rundown. To make matters worse, instead of any kind of decent view, our window looked directly out onto what appeared to be a backyard storage area filled with junk. It was depressing and certainly not what we shelled out a lot of money for. On the functional side, the room was poorly maintained. The towel rail didn't work, and the bathroom extractor fan was broken, which made the small bathroom space feel even more cramped and humid. The reception staff though was very friendly and helpful."

"Wonderful setting and decor. Clean, comfortable bed. Would be good to add a smaller shower with the rain shower as it was difficult to have a shower without a shower cap  Helpful and attentive staff.  Good breakfast except they had obviously ran out of fresh mushrooms and replaced them with tinned, would have been better if they had asked if they can replace with something else and they were left untouched"

Steeped in history, Bath’s Henrietta House originates from the 1780s when a ‘new town’ area of Bath was built south of the river Avon. The architect of Henrietta House and the street was Thomas Baldwin who worked with Sir William Pulteney to divide up what had been river meadows.Today, Henrietta House offers a centrally located, tranquil setting with accommodation in 21 unique rooms.13;10;Bath was one of the most exclusive and glamorous cities in the entire world in the 1700s. Home to celebrated names such as Thomas Gainsborough (painter), Admiral Phillip (founder of Australia), and William Herschel (discoverer of Uranus), Bath was a spa town and retreat for the wealthy. A place where the upper echelons of British society could decamp from their country estates and London town-houses to meet, revel and make new connections over the summer months. The city was filled with the bustle of servants, the clatter of hooves and the chatter of the upper classes, gossiping over tea or duelling at the card table.13;10;Bath’s pre-eminence as ‘the place to be seen’ began to decline in the late 1700s. Whilst seaside resorts such as Brighton became the new fashionable hotspots for the privileged, Bath’s allure as a place of culture, healing and relaxation never disappeared entirely. Over two nights during the Second World War, Bath suffered heavy bombing, destroying much of the city close to the river. The scars of this trauma are evident in the entanglement of old and new buildings scattered across the city today.13;10;Bath is now as popular as ever. It is home to a large student population, drawn by the city’s two esteemed universities. Travellers flock to the city to admire the architecture and peruse the Roman Baths – the grandest amp; best preserved example in northern Europe. Meanwhile, the residents proudly inhabit a UNESCO world heritage city (courtesy of Bath’s Georgian architecture), and its streets are regularly employed as sets for film and TV, starring in films such as ‘The Duchess’, ‘Vanity Fair’ and ‘Sense and Sensibility’.

"The hotel is situated on a beautiful road with amazing buildings surrounding it. It is pretty much a stone’s throw away from where all of the shops, bars, and cafes are. The staff are extremely friendly, always smiling as they greet you. They act professionally and even give you ideas and suggestions for tours. The room we had wonderfully tall walls and high ceiling, however, the carpet for the floor hurt our feet to walk on, so I would suggest taking slippers (we did not take any unfortunately). All in all, it was a great place to stay with a delicious breakfast the morning after. Would definitely stay there again."

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Chestnuts Boutique B&B! I was able to park up my car at the front of the establishment and walk around Bath for the rest of my visit! Attractions and places of interest were around a 15 minute walk away- which is fantastic! The host was so helpful and attentive. My room was clean and comfortable! I had access to plenty of wardrobe space,a TV with Netflix, a fridge, kettle and a well stocked box of tea treats (& fresh cakes too!) Breakfast was gorgeous and fresh. There were plenty of local leaflets available to read about local events and attractions too. Thank you very much!

The hotel is located in the old city, within ten minutes walk to various attractions, the room is large and clean, not convenient enough is that there is no kettle in the room, you need to boil water or drink tea and coffee to get the hotel living room (free), and the other room 25 is downstairs in the hotel lounge, walking upstairs, Move the chair sound clear into the ear, more noisy!

Small luxury hotel I feel relieved to see that it is SLH, but it is unusually understaffed. From check-in to dining in the restaurant, you have to wait, wait, wait. If you don’t understand English, please don’t come. Most of the employees look like college students who work part-time and cannot solve the problem alone. question. The restaurant and bar are good, the room is very big, you need to take the stairs to the first floor, and the bathroom is half a floor up. The swimming pool is small and there are many people. There is a sauna, but it was useless because the temperature was 30 degrees on the day of arrival. Charging the tram is also very funny. It took a long time to fully charge it.

First of all, hotels are very difficult to find. Apple's own navigation is wrong. Secondly, the bathroom in the store is extremely small, and there is still water noise in the sewer at night. There is a problem that hot water cannot be supplied in the room No. 3, which was notified too late and cannot be resolved by itself. Finally, the parking lot is small. Although the parking lots in Bath are very small, this is the only hotel in the UK that has charged me 15 pounds a night. Seriously not recommended.

Sold as a 5 star hotel and although it did look good from the outside, the inside was very dated and lacking tlc.the bathroom had what looked like black mould around the wall furniture and the sink had been covered in a wrap which was torn and some of the metal fixtures where corroded.the breakfast took over an hour as they seemed to take precedents over vips in the dining room who got food very quickly.from sitting down to receiving our breakfast took an hour both days.the staff where very apologetic but that does t make up for poor service and the quality was average. The Spa was also dated and the Gym was small with very little in it for a proper workout.

Abbey Hotel Bath was so conveniently located with very helpful and friendly staff. We booked an extra day and they were so helpful. The room was lovely, the bed comfortable and I would recommend staying there to anyone. It’s closely situated near the Abbey, the Roman Bath site, Sally Lunn’s Buns and lots of beautiful shops and buildings. A quintessential and wonderful place to stay while visiting Bath!

Attended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful. We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest. The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss. One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go. Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109. Wentworth House - Free Parking

6.9/10

Stayed at Wentworth House for one night. The location was handy — only about a 6 or 7-minute taxi ride into the centre of Bath. Parking on site was free, which is always a bonus, though spaces were limited. The shower worked fine with good hot water, and at £120 a night for three people, the price wasn’t unreasonable for Bath. On the downside, the place is very dated and could do with some serious modernisation. Our room had a noticeable damp smell and the single-glazed windows didn’t help keep the room warm or quiet. I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat there, but overall, it’s an okay option if you just need somewhere for a night and aren’t too fussy — though a refresh would really lift the place.
