Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel

The hotel is in very tiny village outside Bath, to reach the city there’s a bus with very few rides. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant (you’ll need a reservation for that) but the menu is quite limited and old school (and pricey). The room was spacious but with an old, unusable luggage rack. Not fitted to host 2 guests with two luggages. Plus there were cobwebs and dust. It’s an old hotel without AC but to counter the heatwave, they gave us the oldest and tiniest fan. The plugs by the bed are hidden behind the furniture and not easy to reach. Breakfast had little variety and if you’re vegan, or have dietary restrictions, you’ll most likely eat the same thing every day. I cannot comment on the coffee. The staff is a gem. A special shoutout to the breakfast guys, the check-in counter ladies and the Greek gentleman at reception, he was super nice and helpful.

This is a charming historic mansion with great character; while the facilities are a bit dated, the exterior and outdoor scenery are super nice. Free parking makes it perfect for those driving, it is only a short drive from the Bath city center. The traditional-style hotel bar was quiet and moody, it stays open until 11pm, allowing us to enjoy a drink even after arriving late from dinner. The room size was decent and the heating worked well; the bathroom featured a bathtub though it took some time for the hot water to start flowing properly. Unfortunately, a false fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, which disrupted our sleep, but since we were only staying for one night and checking out early, I didn't raise the issue. It was a classic "old hotel" experience as expected, and the exceptionally warm and friendly attitude of the front desk staff made up for the hiccups, though my expectations might be higher if I were staying for a longer period.

The hotel is set in a lovely location set in a valley, which is very quiet. There is plenty of free parking. The staff are friendly and a really warm welcome. Everything was well explained to us when we arrived. We only had one evening meal there, and that was very good. We would definitely recommend this hotel, especially if you want to visit Bath, and the surrounding areas.

Reception staff are very friendly warm welcome, room size is ok, bathroom is reasonable but separate taps is an issue should be a mixer tap for both hot and cold water, Great parking space, breakfast is very nice I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable on our last of breakfast the previous day i had spoken to supervisor of the day to see if they make or buy the mini Crossaints as i wanted to buy a few to take home to my sons, i was informed this is a buffet so im welcome to take as many as i want and as tomorrow is my last day i can take these fresh then, they had no problem in me doing this so on my last day i spoke to the supervisor who said he was informed re this but he doesn't allow this and spoke down to me which made me very uncomfortable as there were other guests there and if it was an issue the supervisor previous day wouldn't have said its ok and that they have done this for other guests, He then said he will not allow me to many but will give me a couple and gave me 3 in a box, i felt very embarrassed and little in that space of time, the way he spoke and his tone was not nice i felt very let down on my last day and this has left me a negative impression

I am highly disappointed with our recent stay. We paid a premium price and the room we were given looked absolutely nothing like the bright, spacious photos advertised on their website. Our room was significantly smaller and darker. It also felt dated and rundown. To make matters worse, instead of any kind of decent view, our window looked directly out onto what appeared to be a backyard storage area filled with junk. It was depressing and certainly not what we shelled out a lot of money for. On the functional side, the room was poorly maintained. The towel rail didn't work, and the bathroom extractor fan was broken, which made the small bathroom space feel even more cramped and humid. The reception staff though was very friendly and helpful.
