Hotels in Cuihu District, Kunming

Came to Kunming for a short weekend trip and chose this hostel. The location is excellent and it's very budget-friendly. We stayed in a double room with a private bathroom, and there was always plenty of hot water. The room was cleaned daily. For anyone who isn't overly particular about their accommodation, this place is perfectly adequate. The hostel also has its own restaurant and bar, where many guests socialize or work, including quite a few foreign travelers. The food in the restaurant is decent and reasonably priced, with single meals costing 20-30 RMB. However, it's primarily Western cuisine, so those who prefer Chinese food might not find it to their taste. The only slight drawback is the poor soundproofing in the rooms. Our room was directly opposite the communal washbasins, and we could clearly hear other guests washing up and blow-drying their hair. If you're a light sleeper, remember to bring earplugs!

Of all the hotels I've stayed in, the service at this one truly impressed me, and I have to give it high praise! From the moment I booked, I felt their exceptional attentiveness. Customer service proactively called to confirm my check-in time and asked if I had any special requests, like wanting a higher floor or a quiet room. Upon arrival, a staff member immediately offered to help with my luggage, and the front desk processed my check-in quickly, even offering me a bottle of water. It was a hot day in Kunming, and that water instantly cooled me down. Check-out was just as smooth. The front desk asked about my stay and if I had any suggestions, and even gave me a small tea souvenir. The entire stay felt as comfortable and relaxed as visiting a friend's home, with no sense of formality whatsoever. The hardware facilities were also great. The room was spacious, the bedding was comfortable, and the Chinese-style decor was grand and tasteful – not a tacky imitation of antiquity, but a well-designed modern Chinese aesthetic that was perfect for photos. I genuinely recommend this hotel to everyone. You'll understand what 'home away from home' truly means after just one stay!

Although it's an older hotel, the lobby is still maintained very clean and grand. The rooms, however, show more noticeable signs of aging and aren't particularly spacious. That said, the service level is definitely up to par. We chose a room with a panoramic view of Cuihu Lake, and right outside, there are plenty of local eateries on Qianju Street, as well as some nice coffee shops and libraries… The location advantage is simply unbeatable. During the peak summer travel season, right next to the prime real estate of Cuihu Lake, what more could you ask for in terms of value for money?

The hotel is located right by Cuihu Lake. You just walk down a small alley next to it for about 2 minutes, and you're there. The room is spacious, clean, and the bedding is very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. This hotel offers great value for money, and I'd definitely choose it again in the future.

Location: The location is absolutely fantastic! Downstairs, you'll find a pedestrian street, and the Shuncheng Shopping Center is right there. There are also about half a dozen other malls nearby, making dining and getting drinks incredibly convenient. Service: The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were given a high-floor room, and the breakfast was quite good – they even provided a complimentary breakfast for our child. We didn't get a chance to try the late-night congee, but I imagine it would have been good too. Cleanliness: The cleaning staff were very enthusiastic and did a thorough and clean job. There's also a large Miniso and Mixue Ice Cream & Tea downstairs, which are always bustling with people. It's a great spot for families with kids.

The hotel is right by Cuihu Lake, offering an exceptional location. Stepping out in the morning, you're greeted by Cuihu Lake with fresh, cool, and quiet air. There are also people exercising by the lake, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. The other entrance of the hotel faces a main road, making it incredibly convenient for catching a taxi when leaving. You can start your city walk right after checking in. Personally, I found the rooms on the ground floor to be more comfortable and spacious, with greater privacy.

A really nice downtown hotel. The front desk staff were super helpful, and they even welcomed us with flower pastries. The room was spacious, and the bathroom had a great wet/dry separation. Breakfast was incredibly varied, and they even offered a late-night snack! Their rice noodles were just as good, if not better, than what you'd find outside. When we checked out, they even gave us a souvenir, which was a lovely touch!

Our trip to Kunming and our stay at Gongxili was absolutely perfect – no regrets at all! The location is incredible, right on Dongxi Temple Pagoda Pedestrian Street. You step out directly into the old street market, and it's just a few minutes' walk to Jinma Biji Archway and Nanping Street. If you're craving some douhua rice noodles, you can find them anywhere just outside. The hotel is a beautiful new Chinese-style courtyard. While it's bustling outside, the moment you step into the courtyard, it's instantly peaceful, and it's a great spot for photos too. The front desk lady was super friendly, offering complimentary fruit tea upon arrival and responding quickly to any requests. Our room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and it even had its own direct drinking water dispenser, which was convenient and hygienic.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful Stay at Green Lake Hotel – Excellent Location, Service and Food. We had a wonderful stay at Green Lake Hotel in Kunming. The location is absolutely fantastic, right next to the beautiful Green Lake and within easy walking distance of many of Kunming’s attractions, restaurants, and historic areas. It was especially nice to be able to walk around the lake in the morning and evening. Although the hotel has a long history, it is very well maintained and has a classic, elegant atmosphere. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the entire hotel felt welcoming and well cared for. What impressed us most was the service. The staff were genuinely warm, professional, and attentive. Everyone we interacted with made us feel welcome, and they were always willing to help. This level of hospitality really made our stay memorable. We also had an excellent experience at the hotel restaurant. The dining environment is beautiful and elegant, the service is attentive, and the food was very well prepared. We especially enjoyed experiencing the local Yunnan flavors and ingredients. It was one of the highlights of our stay and a very convenient place to enjoy a relaxing meal after sightseeing. Overall, Green Lake Hotel combines an unbeatable location, traditional elegance, excellent service, and very good dining. It has a character that many newer hotels simply don’t have. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily choose this hotel again the next time we visit Kunming. Highly recommended!

This is a 4-star hotel, renovated in 2018. Its biggest advantage is the location; the Wuyi Road metro station is right outside the door, making getting around super convenient. It's less than a ten-minute e-bike ride to Cuihu Park, which makes exploring the city a breeze. The room was clean and tidy, and they even provided free bottled water. There were two minor downsides. The room had carpet, which I'm personally not a fan of as I always feel it can harbor dirt. Also, breakfast was 60 RMB per person, which I thought was a bit pricey, so I didn't try it. Overall, if you prioritize a good transportation location, this hotel is a very suitable choice.
