Wessex Estate

Formerly home to British military personnel, Wessex Estate, is today home to professionals in the arts and media as well as the industries housed in Biopolis and Fusionopolis. These black and white Anglo-Indian bungalows (which come from the term Bangala or Bengali for from Bengal)or “Ang-Moh Chu” (White Man’s House) are designed in the “revival architectural style”. It’s not just a residential estate. As you would expect the British, when they stayed there had a town centre, with some bistros and convenience stalls. The Village Square still serves this purpose today. While it does not sell basic necessities anymore, the Wessex Estate Village Square is home to a number of restaurants. The bungalows were charming, really the whole estate was a discovery.
