UXO Lao Visitor Center

#NovemberDestinations2025 The UXO Lao Visitor Center, located in the heart of Luang Prabang, documents the painful history of Laos as one of the world's most bombed countries. Between 1964 and 1973, the U.S. military dropped over 200 million cluster bombs on Laos, and approximately 30% remain unexploded to this day, causing tens of thousands of casualties. The exhibition uses images, documentaries, actual bomb casings, and victim stories to reveal the long-term threat posed by UXO (unexploded ordnance) to the Lao people, especially children, and introduces the daily arduous work of the UXO Lao demining team. Admission is free, donations are accepted, and visitors often remain silent for a long time after leaving the exhibition hall. This is not just a museum, but living evidence reminding us that the ravages of war have never ended.
