Tianmu Lake Jingzhan-Shahe Bridge

Tianmu Lake is actually composed of two national large reservoirs, Shahe and Daxi. The water source of Shahe Reservoir mainly comes from Guangde and Langxi in Anhui Province. In order to completely solve the problem of Shahe flood, after the flood in 1957, Liyang County decided to build a large reservoir on Shahe. The project started in early September 1958 and was completed in November 1961. In 1992, in order to develop mountain and water tourism resources, Shahe Reservoir was renamed Tianmu Lake. ​ The planner and commander of Shahe Reservoir at that time was Yan Jingzhan, the then secretary of Liyang County Party Committee. Yan Jingzhan (1915-2003), a native of Huai'an, Jiangsu Province, served as the second secretary of the CPC Liyang County Committee from August 1957 to August 1958, and the first secretary of the CPC Liyang County Committee from August 1958 to August 1962. He was the organizer and commander of the construction of Shahe Reservoir and made great contributions to the construction of Shahe Reservoir. ​ In order to improve the quality of tourism services, promote the development of Liyang's all-for-one tourism, and further improve the road network system of "Liyang No. 1 Highway", Shahe Bridge, a continuous space special-shaped arch beam composite structure with an arc-shaped bridge deck, is an important node. In order to thank and commemorate Yan Jingzhan, the old leader, the people of Liyang named this special bridge after him.
