Speaking of the most beautiful highway, Li Yang's Number 1 Highway takes the crown. Arriving as planned with friends, the place is even more stunning than we imagined! However, you must drive yourself, as the Number 1 Highway spans over 300 km, with various scenic spots scattered at distances from each other—some hundreds of meters, some several kilometers, or even tens of kilometers apart. It really takes a whole day to slowly take it all in. On the weekend, bring a small tent to camp by the lake, play cards, crack sunflower seeds, and enjoy the scenery and breeze with a few good friends. This is the small joy readily found in our busy lives. —————————————————————————— 🌊 Daxi Reservoir The Number 1 Highway is divided into south and north directions. We entered from the south, passing through mountains and bamboo forests to reach Daxi Reservoir. We happened to encounter an old man herding sheep, letting the lambs graze. The scene was truly delightful, instantly making us forget all the pressures of life and relax both body and mind. This spot is also my favorite, surrounded by mountains and the lake, and it's great for taking photos. Daxi Reservoir is also quite pristine, with many people camping, playing in the water, fishing, and it's a unique spot for family outings or bringing dogs along. —————————————————————————— 💕 Heart of the Goddess Heading north, you can reach the Heart of the Goddess, about 30 kilometers from Daxi Reservoir (I only remember approximately since I was driving). Along the way, we passed Goose Village Public Library, tea gardens, and another reservoir. Actually, the scenery along the road is the most beautiful, with shady village lanes that are truly healing. The Heart of the Goddess is a grassy area surrounded by mountains, and opposite is a heart-shaped forest on the mountain, which may be naturally formed or trimmed, symbolizing beautiful love. In the mountain hollow, there is a stream flowing from the reservoir, making it a leisure area for families. Each viewing platform here is heart-shaped, and couples who come here will surely receive the 'Goddess's' blessing for lasting happiness. —————————————————————————— 🚏 The Most Beautiful Sky Road Not far from the Heart of the Goddess is the Most Beautiful Sky Road. The so-called Sky Road is a road with three undulating slopes, which, from certain angles, looks layered and as if it leads to the sky, giving it a unique characteristic. Next to the Sky Road is a viewing platform where you can see the opposite reservoir and dam. It's even more beautiful during the day, just be mindful of sun protection. —————————————————————————— It's just over an hour's drive from Nanjing city center. Those who ride mountain bikes or motorcycles can also fully enjoy themselves here, as it's perfect for circling the mountains and lakes. Cities nearby can also come here to enjoy a short weekend, with few people and beautiful scenery, and it's also perfect for taking portraits!
