Guoliang Hanging Highway

Guoliang Hanging Highway, also known as Guoliang Cave, is located in Guoliang Village, Shayao Township, Huixian City, Xinxiang City, Henan Province. It is a famous hanging highway. It was started in 1972 and completed in 1977, all by the villagers of Guoliang Village. Among them, the thirteen villagers who were mainly responsible for excavation were called the "Thirteen Heroes of Guoliang Cave". This highway is known as one of the "ten most dangerous roads in the world" and one of the "18 most peculiar highways in the world". The construction of Guoliang Hanging Highway embodies the indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation. During the construction process, no machinery was used, and it was all excavated by manpower. It took more than 5 years to build this passable road. Its opening to traffic has made Guoliang Village, a cliff village hidden in the mountains and steep cliffs, appear in front of the world, becoming the first scenic spot of Wanxian Mountain, a national 4A-level scenic spot in Huixian City, Henan Province. The Guoliang Hanging Highway is 1,250 meters long, 5 meters high, and 4 meters wide. It is an artificial tunnel excavated on the 400-meter-high cliff of South Taihang, also known as "Guoliang Cave". During the construction process, a total of 60,000 workers were invested, 24,000 cubic meters of stone chips were cleared, 12 tons of steel drills were consumed, and 2,000 hammers. At that time, Guoliang Village invested 80,000 yuan to dig a hole, and invested another 400,000 yuan for expansion in 2001. Today, Guoliang Hanging Highway is not only a famous tourist attraction, but also an important source of income for local villagers. Its existence not only shows the magnificent epic of the struggle between man and nature, but also becomes a valuable spiritual wealth to inspire future generations. Tourists can take the scenic spot's tourist bus into the scenic spot, and they will pass the hanging highway on the way. After reaching the terminal, you can get off and return to Guoliang Cave for a visit. For safety reasons, private cars are currently not allowed to enter the scenic area.
