Cheung Chau – The most popular island in Hong Kong 🇭🇰

#timetotravel Known for its giant curry fish balls, and mango mochis, Cheung Chau is one of the most popular islands to visit in Hong Kong. To those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong’s city life, Cheung Chau may not be the perfect destination as people do tend to flock to Cheung Chau during weekends and public holidays. Cheung Chau is located about 10 kilometers from the southwest of Hong Kong Island, and it is easily accessible, which is a ferry ride away from Central Ferry Pier. There are two types of ferries: Ordinary and Express. The Ordinary ferry normally would take around an hour for the one-way journey and the Express ferry normally would take around 30-40 minutes for the one-way journey. The Ordinary ferry is cheaper than the Express ferry, but I definitely would recommend just taking the Express ferry given the significant difference in the duration of the journey. The last time I visited Cheung Chau, I visited this egg café called “Si Dan” (it is an egg pun which means whatever in Cantonese), they offer and extensive selection of eggs dishes. We ordered an egg with hashbrown, and an onsen egg with mash dish, the food is really amazing. We also visited “Valor Cheung Chau” and had their pineapple ice drip coffee, which is really innovative and good. It is sad to see that it is now permanently closed… After grabbing some food and drinks, we went for a stroll along the beach and coincidentally saw a love lock wall which is very nice!! I would recommend a visit to Cheung Chau if you have never been but definitely brace yourself for the crowd. #hongkong #hk #cheungchau #island
