We are part of TOTO Japan Indonesia tour and had a late night check-in from Narita. Upon arrival we are greeted and helped by the front staff with all Japanese hospitality. Our room are located on the first floor which is the same level as the onsen. All of the rooms are a bit distant away from the main lobby, therefore you'll need a bit of walking in between areas. Our room are Ryoken style with tatami floor mattresses which is quite comfortable. In room heating are quite warm however the bathroom and showers are not, no heating so during winter will be quite chilly. Wifi internet is quite bad, very slow and drops alot. Our room have an astonishing views towards the lake and mountains, and surrounded by golf course to the side of the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are all served with Japanese style breakfast, very yummy and free coffee too. Dining staff are very well mannered and diligently taught our daughter the tastiest way to eat some of the traditional meal. We stayed for 2 nights and so We begin our Japan tour in the best way a Japanese accomodation & hospitality can offer. Thank you & definitely recommended accomodation...

The independent hot spring in the room is very pleasant. It is hidden in a bamboo forest. I also recommend the breakfast and dinner at the hotel. If you stay, be sure to include double meals. The dishes will be changed according to the check-in date.

We did the Hakone loop and after the boat ride we walked over to our ryokan and stayed for one night. We left our luggage in our hotel back in Tokyo and just packed a small backpack for the overnight trip. There is a hill to get up to the entrance but if you call they will come down and drive you up we chose to walk it. We were warmly greeted with two glasses of champagne upon our arrival and promptly shown around the location. We had our own bath onsen on the deck to our room that was very private. We also used one of the two much larger public onsens. We were informed that although the larger onsens are public you and your companion or family can use them privately from mid afternoon into the evening if available. You just lock the door and they are very private as well. We didn't book the dinner package so we walked to a restaurant and had dinner. Just be aware there were not many choices as that part of Hakone during an early June evening was very quiet. The breakfast was very interesting to say the least but I ate about 90% of the many courses that were served and my wife probably had 70%. Not even close to a traditional breakfast we normally have back in the states. All the employees were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. We were both pleasantly surprised by whole experience and really glad we did it. It was definitely the highlight of the whole Hakone visit. Upon checkout it was pouring rain so they drove us the short distance to catch the bus back to the Hakone-Yumato station.

Disappointed. 2nd visit to Hakone Fuga. Not the same anymore. Where should I even begin. Check-in Process was a disaster. No one noticed that we had arrived nor assisted to carry our luggages from our car. What a huge difference from our first visit to Hakone Fuga. Hotel staff were more focused on domestic tourists than foreign tourist visiting. Despite arriving before 2 couples (domestic tourists), they were allowed to sit at the bar counter and were served more professionally than the front desk staff that served us who did not seem very clear in the check-in process. Furthermore, they placed us at the 2nd level and the staff didn't go the extra mile to carry all our luggages up, and we had to carry some of it ourselves. No suggestions from staff to assist us to carry it down upon check-out, we had to do it ourselves too. No introduction to the room because I mentioned we visited before once, but the room type was different from our initial stay. He carried one of our luggages up, and walked us to our room, and left. Very poor hospitality compared to our first visit The only saving grace was their dinner/breakfast staff at the restaurant as the service there felt genuine and sincere. Fusion food for the dinner course lacked the authentic Japanese experience we were looking for. If you expect to charge your guest almost 99,000 yen per night, please be prepared to UP your service and standards as they have completely fell short from our first visit to Hakone Fuga. We will definitely not return again because the entire experience felt like we were ”ghosted” by the hotel staff. If I have to rate the first visit to the second visit, it was 9/10 to 1/10 (service staff efforts dinner/breakfast). Also, if you are going to practice double standards (Japanese Customers vs Foreign Tourist), please do us a favor, don't advertise your ryokan/hotel to international tourists. You completely let us down, Hakone Fuga. We wasted our 99,000 yen on your hotel for 1 night. Other ryokans charged us lower and the service was impeccable. You need to, seriously, REFLECT

The whole family experienced the traditional Japanese-style hot spring hotel in Hakone, which was arranged in the innermost set of eight detached houses. Grandmother Kyoku, the steward, took us across the courtyard to the room, introduced us to the dinner mat dishes and Japanese breakfast, drank hot springs after dinner, and took a picture in the hotel. Nowhere all day. The hotel is built on the platform of a half mountain. Eight rooms surround the small garden, and the courtyard is open when you open the door. Although one night stay is expensive, it is the best experience in a half-month trip.

At the reception, when I was waiting, a dark female staff member said, ”If you don't wear a mask, you can't enter the building, so please buy it.” I was warned only that there were other male customers with real faces. There is no one other than the staff who pays attention to the real face, and the hot springs, dressing rooms, and the building are full of real faces. I understand that it is easy to be careful because I am a young woman, but I would like you to respond without discrimination. The mask is not sold one piece, but only 500 yen as a set. The restaurant tastes like a food court. The taste is not suitable for health-oriented people because it has plenty of additives and a small amount of vegetables. It was 16000 yen for bathing fee and restaurant for 4 adults and 2 infants. It's a super public bath atmosphere, so it's a little too expensive. It was a pity that there was a smoking corner on both the left and right sides of the entrance and exit, and I couldn't avoid the smell of cigarettes. There are many group guests who smoke, so it may be suitable for banquets. When I checked the receipt, there was no mask price. At least it is a salvation.
