Guizhou Provincial Museum

7
4.5/5
478 reviews
The Guizhou Provincial Museum is a comprehensive museum showcasing the history and ethnic culture of Guizhou. The new building, completed and opened in 2017, is a brown rhombus-shaped structure adorned with colorful accents on its exterior, symbolizing "though small as a rhombus stone, it embodies the thousand mountains and islands of Guizhou's culture." The museum features three permanent exhibitions: "Ethnic Guizhou," "Kingdom of Paleontology," and "Historical Guizhou," along with functional areas such as a digital experience hall, intangible cultural heritage theater, and 4D cinema. "Historical Guizhou" unfolds along themes such as the exploration of Guanyin Cave, the traces of Yelang, and the path to provincial establishment: the large number of chipped stone tools unearthed at the Qianxi Guanyin Cave site push back the history of human activity in Guizhou to the early Paleolithic era. The restored scene of "head-covered burials" in Hezhang Kele, the early-known Shizhaishan-type bronze drum of Guizhou, and the weapon molds excavated from the Puan Bronze Drum Mountain site together outline the mysterious bronze culture of Yelang. The Eastern Han bronze chariot and horse unearthed from the Wantu Han tomb in Xingyi is widely recognized as the museum's crown jewel, with the bronze horse raising its head in a neigh and the chariot canopy's bronze as thin as paper. The Ming Dynasty golden phoenix crown excavated from the Yang family chieftain's tomb in Zunyi is inlaid with hundreds of rubies and sapphires, while the sets of glazed pottery figurines in ceremonial procession are equally striking. The "Kingdom of Paleontology" takes visitors back to the oceans of hundreds of millions of years ago in Guizhou: The Guizhouosaurus hui measures only 20-30 cm in length, discovered in Xingyi in 1957, and was the first marine reptile found and named by Chinese scholars. The ichthyosaur and crinoid fossils of the Guanling biota, as well as the Orientognathus from the Panxian biota with its neck accounting for nearly half its body length, are all worth a closer look. "Ethnic Guizhou" highlights the museum's collection: the first floor recreates village scenes with stilt houses and covered bridges, while the second floor showcases ethnic costumes such as Miao ceremonial attire, silver horn headdresses, and Shui horse-tail embroidery baby carriers, with the Miao clothing and silver adornments ranking among the finest in China. The rare Song Dynasty egret-patterned wax-dyed women's outfit unearthed in Pingba and the century-old Qing Dynasty dragon boat collected from the banks of the Qingshui River each carry their own stories. Each of the three exhibitions offers a distinct focus, and a full tour takes you from Guizhou's ancient oceanic past to its present-day multi-ethnic culture, so ample time is recommended for a thorough visit.Guiyang · 21.9km from Xiuwen

Yangpidong Waterfall is located in Muke Village, Anliu Town, Qingzhen City, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. It is a niche attraction that has not been commercially developed. It is a typical karst landform and is an exit of an underground river. It is named because the cave entrance resembles sheepskin. The river water pours down from the cave entrance halfway up the mountain, forming a spectacular waterfall about 41 meters high and 20-30 meters wide. From a distance, the waterfall roars down like a white water wall, majestic; when you get closer, the water rushes down, splashing layers of water on the rocks, making a deafening sound, like a symphony played by nature. The scenery around the waterfall is charming, with cliffs on both sides, lush trees, and fresh air, just like a natural oxygen bar. The stalactites in the cave are of various shapes, which contrast with the underground river and calcified terraces, forming a primitive and wild landscape painting. What is special is that the Yangpi Cave still retains the remains of the Miao people's traditional cave burial customs. It can be seen that the ancient coffins are placed in the cave, adding a mysterious cultural color to this natural wonder.Qingzhen · 18.8km from Xiuwen

Guiyang Xiputuo Temple, formerly known as Baiyun Temple, was built before the sixth year of Kangxi (1667 AD) and has a history of more than 300 years. It is 19797.88 square meters and is magnificent. The temple fully embodies the art of gardening and Buddhist culture and architecture. The temple complex faces south from the north, with squares and arches in front, and sculptured statues on natural stone walls built on the back of the green mountains and waters. The main buildings on the central axis include the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Hall of Great Compassion, and the Hall of Daxiong. , Tibetan Sutra Building, Reclining Buddha Hall, etc. The thirty-two Avalokitesvara statues carved from mahogany in the Guanyin Hall are even more amazing for the elegance and sophistication of the temple.Guiyang · 19km from Xiuwen

Quanhu Park

Quanhu Park is one of the 27 "city of a thousand gardens" demonstration parks in Guiyang, where you can enjoy a large-scale water curtain movie in the southwest. Up to 80 meters, the water curtain radius is 16 meters, the effect is very shocking. Cloud Tower Zen Shadow is a landmark building in the park. It has seven floors, which means the seven-level pagoda. The pagoda is the past life, and the cloud tower is the present life. The main wooden structure of the building has a unique and exquisite shape. The tree array together creates a wonderful artistic conception where the sky, clouds and shadows linger together, which is fascinating. Quanhu Park has also built a 2.5-dimensional space retaining wall, which vividly displays the changes of Guiyang in the form of 2.5-dimensional pictures and photos, from the grilled small tofu at the street stall to the glutinous rice cake and other scenes, which makes people unable to help themselves. Reminisce all kinds of fun things from childhood. In the park, Jingxin Square, Putuo Sunset, Zen Valley Secret Realm, Quanhu Riverside, Wen Lan to Snow, Empty Mountain and Water, Hundred Opera Cloud Steps, Shuiyu Long Bridge, Pictures Around the Lake, Unknown Stone Rhyme, Shujuquan Lake, etc. Special attractions are also very attractive. In addition to the scenic spots, the parking lot next to the terraced terrace landscape is also amazing.Guiyang · 18.8km from Xiuwen

This is my second time bringing my kids here. As they are happy, I am happy too. During the rafting process, I found that the safety measures here are sufficient. My two kids floated ahead of me and I arrived safely at the destination.

I arrived 5 minutes early, and the lecturer, Keju, immediately started and continued until 3:05 PM without a break. He covered everything from ancient Guizhou to Qing Dynasty Guizhou, and the lecture was quite comprehensive. It seemed that Keju really enjoys reading and has a rich knowledge base. He was also quite experienced in interacting with children, and the kids listened with great interest. It was very good.

Located at No. 187 Zaoshan Road, Yunyan District, Guiyang City, only 1.5 kilometers from the city center, the park was established in 1957 and is a national 4A-level scenic spot. Admission is free (reservations required), Hongfu Temple incense and flower tickets cost 2 yuan, and cable car/zoo services are charged separately. It integrates mountains, forests, springs, lakes, caves, temples, and monkeys, and is known for its "premium location in the city, beautiful in nature." 🌟Highlights & Must-Visit Spots 1. Wild Macaque Troops: A rare semi-wild urban macaque troop (over a thousand individuals) concentrated around the Jiuqu Path and Hongfu Temple. Great for photos, but please do not feed them and keep an eye on your belongings. 2. Hongfu Temple + Jiuqu Path: Guizhou's first temple (during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty). Climb the 383 stone steps of the Jiuqu Path, accompanied by cliff carvings and ancient pavilions; the temple features ancient Buddha caves and Buddhist scriptures, and is a popular place of worship. 3. Qilin Cave: A karst cave where Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng were once under house arrest; it combines natural scenery with revolutionary history. 4. Qianling Lake + Kanzhu Pavilion: The lake is wide enough for boating; Kanzhu Pavilion on Daluo Ridge offers panoramic views of Guiyang city, with stunning sunsets. Visitors can hike or take a cable car up the mountain. 5. Zoo/Panda House: A long-established city zoo with a South China tiger breeding base, suitable for family-friendly educational activities; high vegetation coverage and abundant negative oxygen ions.

Covering 5,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres), it's six times the size of Huaxi Park and is ideal for hiking, boating, picnics, and wilderness survival training. The area around Nanzhumen, with its large mountains and dense forests, needs to improve bridge guardrail repairs and establish a leisure station.

The gentle drizzle awakens memories of autumn's coolness in my hometown. I arrived full of anticipation, and left with a heart full of longing. This city, nestled in the folds of the mountains, healed a period of time with its coolness and vibrant life. Goodbye, my land of refreshing potatoes! The green mountains and evening breeze are packed away; may you cherish the 23°C summer in your heart. [Smug][Smug][Smug][Heart][Heart][Heart]

Yangpidong Waterfall in Qingzhen City, Guizhou Province is an undeveloped and "wild scenic spot". You can navigate directly to the top of the mountain near Yangpidong, and walk down the steep and slippery goat path to the bottom of the river. The muddy dirt road is difficult to walk on. It takes nearly two hours to go up and down, which is very tiring! Another safer and more comfortable itinerary is to navigate to Shatin Pier, take a boat to the canyon to Yangpidong Waterfall, and then walk for 20 minutes to get there. The round trip takes nearly five hours.
