“Kumtag” means “Sand Mountain” in the Uyghur language. The Kumtag Desert is formed by the tempestuous winds from Tianshan's Qijiaojing Wind Gap and the Dabancheng Wind Gap. After a long journey, the sand that has been carried in the wind collides and deposits in the Kumtag area, forming a desert with various sand dunes. The Kumtag Desert has been developed into a scenic area integrating scientific research, investigation, exploration, sand sports and desert tourism. Looking south from the old town of Shanshan, the golden desert rolls endlessly into the horizon. For thousands of years, the desert and the oasis have coexisted like royal lovers.Shanshan · 23.5km from downtown

The last stop on my trip to Turpan was a desert sunset tour. I ended up taking shuttle buses number one and two, which were quite a long journey. Instead, I ended up just driving around the desert, seeing all sorts of cars stuck in the sand and experiencing traffic jams. It was a bit of a shame that there was a fireworks display on National Day, so I had to make it to my next stop.

Es un pueblo bonito para visitar, pero la parte que se visita no es donde vive la gente. Por lo contrario se puede entrar a algunas de las casas restauradas

How to put it? Only people who are very interested in history can understand it. Those who know nothing about this history will only see ruins. You need cultural background and historical knowledge to understand the cultural value behind it.

Traveling along the canyon road, the hillsides along the way are full of patterns of various shapes and colors, which is very spectacular. There are several viewing points where you can park your car along the way, where you can see the most magnificent scenery of the entire canyon. There are water and trees below the canyon, adding a touch of bright color to the desolation.

Hidden in the small county of Shanshan, this unassuming museum is often missed by visitors exploring the desert. It's free but well worth the trip! Upon entering, the enormous Shanshan Xinjiang Giant Dragon fossil truly amazes children. The museum boasts a wealth of textual and visual information, a diverse collection of prehistoric fossils, and interactive exhibits, though limited and could be improved. It's also not far from the Kumtag Desert, making it a worthwhile destination for a half-day visit.

Park, in ancient times, refers to the gardens of government officials, while in modern times it generally refers to public areas built and operated by the government as natural viewing areas and for the public to rest and play. In tourist attractions, it is usually referred to as "garden". The "Park Design Specification" defines: "A park is a public green space with relatively complete facilities and a good green environment for the public to visit, appreciate, rest, carry out scientific and cultural activities and exercise.

The campsite is very easy to find, located within the Kumtag Desert scenic area. The facilities are complete, and the restrooms are quite clean! It's extremely cost-effective. I tried both Bombardier and Bigfoot, as well as Xinjiang's number one toboggan run! Overall, I give it 5 stars (5 stars). Bombardier was incredibly thrilling, and you can even sandboard at the top! It's suitable for adventurous travelers. Bigfoot is relatively gentler than Bombardier, but still thrilling! It's more suitable for those who are a little less brave! The toboggan run is excellent value for money, allowing you to ride it twice! Kids absolutely loved it! A great experience!
