In the Puqing Forest Farm in Shazi Town, Qinglong, there is also a large-scale US military gas station. During the Anti-Japanese War, this gas station built by the US military in Qinglong was one of the important supply stations for the Sino-US Allied Forces, and made an indelible contribution to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. Military vehicles traveling on the Yunnan-Burma Highway had to refuel here. According to the navigation instructions, along the G320 National Highway, turn to the X646 County Road, and turn right at the Puqing Forest Farm intersection of the County Road X646 according to the road sign and turn into a narrow path with lush trees. The road is very difficult to walk, and some sections can only be used by bicycles. The car twisted and turned in the forest for about a few kilometers. Inadvertently, several watchtowers appeared in front of us. When we drove closer, we found that the "gas station" in front of us was completely surrounded by strict barbed wire and a small military base with complete facilities. There was no one around, the gate was open, and the American bald eagle emblem above the gate in the photo was not seen. There was also a mottled sign "US ARMY GAS STATION AT 24TH TURN ON CHINA-BURMA HIGHWAY", but the gate was still the gate in the photo.
Opening up the dusty history, this site of the US military camp during the Anti-Japanese War was formerly known as the Shaziling Gas Station. The nearby X646 County Road actually belonged to the "Shaba Highway" during the Anti-Japanese War. The "Shaba Highway" starts from Shazi Town, Qinglong County, Guizhou in the north and ends at the Badu Ferry of Nanpanjiang, Ceheng County in the south. It is 267 kilometers long and is a road built from Guizhou to Guangxi during the war. The materials on the Guizhou-Yunnan Highway can be transferred from the "Shaba Highway" to Guangxi, and the materials can be transported by land and water ferry. In the late period of the Anti-Japanese War, Guangxi was also an important war zone against Japan, and all kinds of war preparation materials were in short supply. The construction of this "Shaba Highway" used more than 35,000 civilian workers, and more than 470 civilian workers died during the construction process. According to the old map, this US military gas station barracks in the forest is located at the T-junction angle of the Guizhou-Dian Highway and the Shaba Highway, which can take into account the maintenance of two important wartime highways. The location of the barracks is quite thoughtful. The barracks are a certain distance away from the highway and have a good design to prevent spy reconnaissance and sabotage. The barracks are hidden in the dense forest and built on a slope. The specific construction period of this US military barracks should be around 1942. The US military once sent the 1880th Engineer Battalion of the US Army to renovate the Qinglong section of the Yunnan-Guizhou Highway and the Shaba Highway to maintain and improve the highway transportation capacity. Qinglong County has now renovated this US military gas station, which basically maintains the appearance when the US military entered. In the barracks, you can see four huge gasoline tanks lined up on the grass. The oil tanks are covered with mottled rust, and many old military vehicles are parked on the surrounding open space. The entire military camp now includes many buildings, including offices, barracks, gas stations, observation posts, artillery positions, etc., and a special visitor center. The local government has turned it into a tourist attraction for the history of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
