Yangchang River Wetland Scenic Area is located in Fengning Bashang Grassland, Hebei Province. At an altitude of 1,600m with an average summer temperature of 18°C, it's the largest natural forest flower field hiking destination in the Fengning Bashang region. This attraction features natural flower fields, sparse woods, and wetlands. Not only does it preserve rare plateau flowers like golden lotus, shrubby cinquefoil, and wild poppies, but also hosts wild plants with edible and medicinal value such as astragalus, bupleurum, saposhnikovia, lilies, dianthus, and thyme – making it a natural botanical treasure trove. Stepping into the attraction, the most breathtaking sight is the meadow wonder. These grass mounds resembling ancient pagodas are masterpieces formed over millennia by the intertwined roots of sedge grass and peat carbon in an endless cycle of life and death. An average 60cm-diameter mound takes a thousand years to form, while the oldest ones can be traced back 100,000 years. Here, colorful wildflowers carpet the land stretching to the horizon; the ancient winding Yangchang River meanders endlessly; mysterious summit obos, a ridgeline resembling a "Sleeping Beauty," and lengthy boardwalks swaying with wind turbines together weave the distant legends of the grassland. The azure sky, emerald meadows, babbling streams, and grazing livestock compose a magnificent landscape painting—entering this realm feels like stepping into a fairytale world, a true earthly paradise.

Badaling Great Wall

10
4.7/5
63.5k reviews

The Badaling Great Wall is a highly representative section of the Ming Great Wall, located in Yanqing, Beijing, north of Juyong Pass. Since ancient times, it has been a strategic military location guarding the northwestern passage to the capital. The pass city is trapezoidal in shape, narrow in the east and wide in the west, with two gates, east and west. The east gate bears the inscription "Juyong Outer Town," and the west gate bears the inscription "Key to the North Gate." Both inscriptions remain clearly legible to this day. Extending north from the pass is the North Wall, along which more than ten watchtowers are distributed; to the south is the South Wall, which has fewer watchtowers. North Tower 8 is the highest point of the entire section, at over 1,000 meters above sea level, and from its top you can overlook the magnificent sweep of the wall winding along the mountain ridges. The North Wall has higher terrain and steeper slopes with open views, and is the main route for most visitors; the South Wall is relatively gentle and less crowded, making it suitable for visitors who want to take photos at a relaxed pace and avoid the crowds. If time permits, walking the South Wall first and then the North Wall is a more leisurely arrangement. Badaling Great Wall is also one of the earlier sections of the wall opened to the public. The top surface of the wall is paved with square bricks, and the widest parts can accommodate five horses walking side by side. Defensive structures such as battlements and arrow holes are well preserved, and walking along it gives a direct sense of the construction standards of Ming Dynasty border defense works. In fall, layers of red leaves on the mountains contrast beautifully with the gray brick wall, making it a season that many photography enthusiasts travel specifically to capture. ▲Travel through 600 years of gilded splendor and encounter the visual shock of crimson red leaves blanketing the mountains ▲nightAs night falls, it winds through the mountains like a brilliant golden dragon, and the ancient city wall illuminated by lights tells of the glory and mystery of a thousand years of history ▲ In winter, the Badaling Great Wall, covered in pristine white snow, winds through the mountains like a silver dragon. The golden light of dawn spills across the wall, painting a tranquil and magnificent picture.

If you're traveling with elderly people, you need to consider their physical condition. Walking the whole way can be tiring for those who aren't physically fit. There aren't many decent restaurants inside, and the food at the restaurants is just so-so, plus the prices are relatively high.

Once you arrive in Fengning, you must drive the Hundred-Mile Sky Road. I've been here before in the summer, and this National Day holiday I came again, and it was absolutely stunning. There were greens, purples, and mostly golden hues—it was breathtaking. The entire route was almost entirely paved, so even sedans could drive comfortably. A perfect score! I'll definitely come back next year.

The scenery is particularly great. I caught up with the most beautiful time of the Colorful Forest. Off-road is also highly recommended. When playing the package project, the order was messed up. The staff arranged to take the sightseeing bus again for free, which is very humane.

Clouds drift across the Bashang Grassland, wind sweeps across the plains. On the grasslands above the clouds, encounter both wilderness and gentleness. Watch the clouds drift and the wind ripples through the grass, see the sunset sink behind the distant mountains, and the sky ablaze with the colors of the sunset painting the meadows. All weariness will be soothed by this mountain wilderness. 🌄

I drove here with friends and spent a long time exploring the forest. The scenery was lush and green, the temperature was cool, the lakeside was perfect for photos, the little train experience was unique, and we even got to experience Manchu culture – it was definitely worth the trip.

We were in a hurry, so we decided to go to the Forest Park and play for a while. We could enter from the South Gate and return to the park from the second exit. We drove all the way to the North Gate. There was no special scenery along that road, so we didn’t have to go there. We can walk the green Baili Tianlu again next year.

I have been there several times, mainly to take my children to play. It is also a large amusement park with many children's play facilities. There are many people in the peak and valley periods and you need to queue up. There are also large performances and horses from various countries.

I went to the Great Khan's Palace a year ago. It was raining and not many people were there. The rain and the wind were very cold. I took a quick look around and had a brief understanding of the history of Mongolian culture and felt the ruggedness of the horseback culture.

This was my first time climbing the Great Wall. I hiked the entire way from the North First Platform to the North Twelfth Platform. The sky was high and the clouds were light at Badaling, and the autumn colors were just right. Looking out over the Great Wall, I could feel the flames of history. How many heroes have been stationed here to resist foreign aggression and write magnificent epics.
