The card works very well within the city. However, upon collection, it turned out that only the large TMB machines could issue the card. We received an error message at the smaller ones. We were unable to load the card into the Hola Barcelona app. Even without a linked card, the app was handy for planning trips within the city. It is inconvenient, though, that most cards do not clearly indicate the extent of Zone 1. That is the zone within which you can travel unlimitedly. You can also use this card to take the metro back into the city from the airport. For us, that involved two transfers and a journey of about 75 minutes. Not all metro stations have elevators, and there aren't escalators everywhere, but it works fine with light luggage.

The price of this pass is reasonable, but only two places are truly worth visiting: the Picasso Museum and the National Art Gallery of Catalonia. The Miró Foundation is also decent, the Museum of Modern Art has a nice building and a viewing platform in the Contemporary Art section, and the Antoni Museum isn't very large. These are all in the city center; if you have time, you can visit them, otherwise, buy separate tickets for one or two.

[Enjoy Barcelona to the fullest in one go!] Booking the Barcelona Card was smooth; I booked it after arriving at the airport, and it only took about a minute to book and get my ticket!
