Reviews: [Pure Fun] One-Day Tour to Kunming Stone Forest Scenic Area + Jiuxiang | Optional Private Car with Professional Transfer

One of the most enjoyable trips I've taken was to the Stone Forest, a historical site with breathtaking views among the rocks. The cave itself held surprises, such as a cable car, a boat ride on the river, waterfall views, and the opportunity to explore the cave's interior. The tour leader was incredibly helpful and patient despite our lack of language skills, explaining everything clearly. She also assisted me with non-tour-related matters like phone calls and other things.

I ended up being the only person, and it was fine. After getting picked up, we went to the stone forrest. Very interesting and while I had time, I probably would have even liked more to see everything, but I did get a good idea of things. Then we went to the cave, which had a gondola, boat x2,and then walking through the caves. Not too busy which was great to experience everything. I recommend the company I was with, I had support and felt looked after.

We rented a 7-seater minivan, and driver Ma Fen was very punctual. He took us to visit the Stone Forest, Dianchi Lake, and Xishan Mountain, and communication was smooth throughout the trip. With children in the group, driver Ma was also very attentive, arriving early to pick us up and drop us off. We had a wonderful and enjoyable trip, making it a truly memorable Kunming experience. Highly recommended!

When booking, I immediately provided my WeChat account—it made communication much easier. They contacted me the same day and added me to the chat. They offered other excursion options. The day before, my guide, Li, contacted me. She met us in the hotel lobby in the morning, arriving early and patiently waiting while we finished breakfast. We had a private tour and the entire sedan to ourselves. We drove 90 minutes to the Stone Forest. There was a hitch when paying for the tickets; they only accept Alipay or cash. I couldn't pay with either Union Pay or Nihao China, so I paid in cash. The area was so crowded, there was literally no room to swing a cat, everyone had microphones, and it was incredibly loud. Li quickly led us through the crowd, and we were able to get to the front of the line. Then she led us through the secluded labyrinths of the Stone Forest. The views were breathtaking, and she took photos and told us where to stand for the best shots. Then we went to lunch, the duck was delicious without spices, I ate the whole thing.

The schedule was well managed in advance of the booking. Since the city tour was included, they asked about the places I wanted to visit and actively reflected my preferences. The driver arrived at the hotel earlier than the scheduled time for pickup, and the condition of the vehicle was excellent. Although the driver did not speak English, he made a great effort to communicate using a translation app. The scenery at 석림 was absolutely amazing. There is a lot of walking involved, so comfortable sneakers are a must. Sunglasses and sunscreen are also essential. When I mentioned that I wanted to try local food, the driver recommended a mushroom soup, which was delicious. In particular, the cheese-like dish made from cow’s milk is a must-try. Traffic congestion in Kunming is quite severe. It is better to avoid visiting the Douyin Flower Market on weekends. and consider other city attractions instead.

This tour was even better than the description. Our driver was kind and helpful and our guide was outstanding, we would definitely recommend this tour. We did have to pay an additional 25rmb for the bus in the stone Forest but it was well worth it. Absolutely fascinating and spectacular.
