Reviews: Fireflies & Blue Tears Night Tour with Seafood Delight
Guest User2025-12-01
I booked the day before, and we went today. I decided not to risk a taxi; I was worried about not getting a ride, but I really wanted to go. We booked a group tour, but it ended up being just the two of us, and only went on the boat as a group. The guide was incredibly nice, and we communicated through a translator. We spent an hour with the monkeys, and then took a little train up for 10 ringgit per person. If you buy food for them, keep in mind that the langurs actually jump on your backs; the macaques were just passing by. Dinner was at a Chinese restaurant; the food was cooked Chinese style, with lots of sauce and everything in batter, but it was good. There were fireflies! They were literally like lights on a Christmas tree; they swam around for 30-40 minutes. Then we swam out to sea to catch plankton with a net; we saw some, too, but much less. It should be more spectacular on a moonless night.
Reviews: KL Eco Discovery Group Tour – Sky Mirror, Monkey Hill, Eagle Watching, Fireflies & Blue Tears (Full-Day Join-In Tour)

I was picked up at 7:30 a.m. and toured until 9 a.m., and I was satisfied with Sky Mirror. I didn't get bored because I chose various programs, but there were plenty of free time during the tour. For lunch, I went to a seafood restaurant. There weren't many options and it was a bit expensive. I didn't really want to eat there. The food was so-so. I got bitten by a lot of mosquitoes when I saw the fireflies. Blue Tears was amazing and there were a lot of fireflies. The Monkey Temple was boring and hot. It was hard to walk around outdoors in broad daylight. I didn't get tired because I slept on the move here and there.
Reviews: Eco Boat Tour Ticket – Sky Mirror, Monkey Hill, Eagle Watching, Fireflies & Blue Tears (Self-Arrival)

Eagle feeding, fireflies & blue tears were slightly underwhelming. Lots of mosquitoes at night. About 1.5 hour from kl central, might be difficult to get grab when travelling back to kl central. Sky mirror was beautiful but a lot of waiting time for tide & others to take photos. A lot of long waiting time between tours.
Reviews: Kuala Selangor Fireflies and Blue Tears One Day Tour with Dinner

Unique experience, but really subject to weather conditions and planned timing of visit (avoid full moon period for higher chance of spotting blue tears and more fireflies). We visited when the moon was very bright, so there wasn’t a lot of fireflies and tried as hard as we did, barely spotted blue tears. Still worthwhile as a good half-day trip to connect with nature after spending time in the city. Do expect a long drive from KL city. Seafood dinner was pretty good and very filling, with a wide variety of local seafood, meat and veg dishes.
