I'm an Oppo Reno9 (Android) user, and I previously had a problem with my eSIM in Melbourne (maybe it was incompatibility with the smartphone? I explained it to them through customer service), but it worked in Hawaii! I just scanned the QR code in Japan to disable it, and when I arrived in Hawaii it was activated immediately and I was able to connect without having to connect to the airport's Wi-Fi!
