We arrived in Puno on the overnight bus from Cusco, and having the transfer organized was a great help, as we were exhausted. We were able to rest for a few hours and then continued on to the lake. The tour through Uros and Taquile was beautiful, mainly because of the scenery and the stories our guide told us along the way. At the end of the day, we returned quite tired, but happy with the trip.

Confusing experience. The purchase makes you think you have booked a spot with a specific company. This is not the case. There is only 1 company which travels up and back the mountain. You'll wait with everyone else. That having been said, the service is fine. Surprisingly well organised, given how many people use the service, and the buses are clean and in good condition. This is a good option if you don't want to have to purchase your ticket when you arrive, but that's really all you're saving.
