This trip
This trip to Shanghai focuses on the night view of Lujiazui + the core circle of Nanjing West Road. The two Ritz-Carltons in the trip are definitely a must-stay for hoteliers. One is in Pudong Guojin, the other is Portman Ritz-Carlton - this time I focus on sharing the latter, located in one of the most essential locations in Shanghai, basically whether sightseeing, shopping, dining, even business trip, very convenient.
The Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai Portman
Address: 1376 Nanjing West Road
The Ritz-Carlton Portman is located on Nanjing West Road, within walking distance of Kerry Center, Jingan Temple, and Plaza 66. You won’t have much traffic pressure from Metro Line 2, People’s Square Station, or once you land on the high-speed rail/airport. Whether you are shopping or looking for a place to chill and drink coffee, the surroundings are trendy, artistic fusion, and full of life.
The rooms are designed to be understated and luxurious, and those with Ritz must feel their attention to detail: the bedding is super comfortable, the pillows are moderately soft and hard, and the sleep quality is extremely high. When you enter the room, you will often see a local limited edition of THE RITZ-CARLTON CHRONICLE, allowing you to feel the charm of the city with the story. The bathroom is large, bath products and towels are in high-end texture, plus the floor-to-ceiling windows look out to the bustling city view, looking out the window in the room when it rains is more humane.
The lobby, city atrium and public facilities all reveal an old-fashioned five-star undertone. Although some areas are older, the facilities are well maintained, with saunas, gyms, swimming pools and other diverse facilities. The swimming pool is not very big, however high-quality maintenance throughout, suitable for leisure and exercise.
Breakfast and executive lounge dining are a major selling point for Portman, with a wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner food, frequent new dishes to try in the executive lounge, and a quiet environment. Family guests especially appreciated the hotel's proactive provision of children's beds, luggage storage and other services, indeed attentive and courteous.
It is worth noting that some room type facilities are slightly older and may have carpet and air conditioning problems. It is recommended to choose a newly renovated area when booking, or communicate clearly before check-in.
If you want to go out after staying, Central, Xu Hui, and the Outer Banks are very close. Nanjing West Road itself is already one of the busiest and most consumer-powered business districts in Shanghai.
#Hotel Booking Tips: It is recommended to book in advance on the official website or large platform, choose the executive floor to enjoy the lounge, upgrades, etc., before checking in proactively contact the front desk to request early check-in or late check-out service.
#City Travel Shopping Note: Nanjing West Road to Jing'an Temple area walking mainly, remember to bring waterproof bags, umbrellas (Shanghai rains a lot), subway travel is the most convenient, not recommended to drive during peak hours;
