☕ Experience: Matcha Shopping and Cafe Space
While shopping in Marunouchi, I stopped by Ippodo Tea Shop, which has moved to the basement of Shin-Maru Building. With a wide selection of convenient takeout teas, it's a popular spot for office workers during their breaks.
I purchased the traditional "Usucha" matcha. It was sold by the gram, and the staff carefully taught me how to brew it to suit the tea leaves.
Next, I dine in at the "Kaboku" cafe. The Matcha Goumon (¥1,650) is a set of rich, full-bodied matcha and elegant Japanese sweets. The Matcha Latte (¥864), which can be changed to soy milk, is also popular. I enjoyed relaxing in the quiet, warm wooden space.
Directly connected to Tokyo Station, Ippodo Tea Shop, located in the basement of Shin-Maru Building, is a sophisticated tea shop run by a long-established Kyoto tea specialty store. With over 30 varieties available, including matcha, sencha, and hojicha, you can also order tea leaves by weight. The staff's detailed explanations of how to brew tea are also a delight.
At the teahouse "Kaboku," you can enjoy traditional matcha goumon or matcha latte in a quiet space filled with the warmth of wood. The tea and Japanese sweets set was a soothing experience, both in terms of taste and atmosphere.
You can also purchase takeout drinks and tea leaves to enjoy at home, making this a recommended spot for those wanting to enjoy a special tea time in Marunouchi.
