The Huang Clan Ancestral Hall in Xiaqing Village, Yongxing County, Hunan

The Huang Clan Ancestral Hall in Xiaqing Village is located north of the ancient pavilion at the village's northern entrance, facing 25 degrees southeast. Built in the 21st year of the Guangxu reign (1895) during the Qing Dynasty, this brick-and-wood structure features three bays in width, two stories in height, and two sections in depth, with a central courtyard. The front hall has wing rooms to the north and south, with a stage in the middle, covering a total area of 394.78 square meters. The upper part of the front hall houses an ancient double-stage with a hip-and-gable roof, while viewing galleries flank the courtyard. The ancestral hall boasts exquisite wood carvings, including a high-relief wooden carving of two dragons playing with a pearl on the front beam and decorative wooden carvings on the ceiling beams. The entire structure reflects the artistic characteristics of southern Hunan folk architecture during the Qing Dynasty, possessing significant historical, artistic, and scientific value. In February 1928, Yin Zishao and Huang Kecheng frequently gathered peasant forces and held meetings here. In 1952, when Huang Kecheng returned to his hometown, he stayed here for three days to conduct rural surveys. The south wing room on the second floor of the front hall served as the private school where Huang Kecheng studied during his youth, while the north wing room was where he stayed during his rural survey in July 1952. This site is designated as a Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit of Hunan Province.
