Xiangtan Yaowan

Xiangtan Yaowan is a tourist destination that integrates natural scenery, historical culture, and religious experience. It is known as the first bay in the middle reaches of the Xiangjiang River. Yaowan Ancient Town began with the establishment of Hushan Port in the Qin Dynasty and was officially established in 313 AD during the Jin Dynasty, with a history of over 1,700 years. 1. Check-in Points (1) Wangheng Pavilion: This is the best place to enjoy the scenery of the Xiangjiang River, especially at sunrise and sunset when the view is particularly enchanting. The couplet on the pavilion reads, "This solitary stone is the pillar of the earth and the sky, the colors of the mountains and the sound of the river converge in this pavilion." Next to Wangheng Pavilion is a circular brown-red building, which is the water intake for Longpai Soy Sauce. (2) Tanbao Bus Station: As the first bus station in Hunan Province, this place is full of historical charm and is suitable for taking commemorative photos. (3) Datang Xing Temple: Built in the Jin Dynasty, the Stone Temple was the earliest temple in Xiangtan, later renamed Datang Xing Temple. The temple buildings are simple and ancient, with a strong incense atmosphere, making it a great place to experience the religious culture of Xiangtan. (4) Walking another hundred meters forward, you will see the cliff inscription "Jiangshan Shengji" in four large characters, 16 meters long and 3.6 meters high. It was inscribed in 1928, with the characters written by Wang Jiejun and the calligraphy by Zhu Deshang. (5) Tangxing Bridge: The only passage to Yaowan, named after its proximity to Tangxing Temple, is the oldest well-preserved stone arch bridge in Xiangtan City. (6) Yangmeizhou at the end of Yaowan Street: Formed by the erosion of the Xiangjiang River, it is a famous small island in the river in Xiangtan. There used to be a training camp for Zeng Guofan's navy on the island, and wooden barracks still exist. From the island, you can see fishing boats on the river, and it is said that the "Fishing Village at Sunset" in the "Eight Views of Xiaoxiang" originated here. 2. Route and Parking You can navigate to Yaowan, first visit Datang Xing Temple, then pass by Wangheng Pavilion and continue forward to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Xiangjiang River. There is a public parking lot nearby, but parking spaces may be tight during holidays.
