Reflecting on the Wudalianchi from the perspective of the Atlantic revolutions

In the 60th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1721), the Huoshao Mountain volcano erupted, leading to the formation of the Wudalianchi; in the 41st year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1776), Huoshao Mountain erupted again. In 1776, the United States was founded, and Adam Smith published 'The Wealth of Nations'. The so-called golden age of Kangxi and Qianlong was not long before the Opium War in 1840, which led to a great defeat. The Glorious Revolution in England and John Locke's writing of 'Two Treatises of Government' took place around 1689, which is the 28th year of Kangxi's reign. In short, around the time of the volcanic eruptions that formed the Wudalianchi, there was an explosion of political thought and practice on both sides of the Atlantic. People always say, travel thousands of miles, read thousands of books; you see, when I connect my travels with reading, this is the kind of peculiar association I come up with.
