Gandantegchinlen Monastery

A Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Ulaanbaatar, founded by the 5th Jebtsundamba in 1835. During the rule of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party, this was the only temple in Mongolia that remained in operation until Mongolia's democratization in 1990. It is the largest temple in Mongolia and houses the world's largest copper Buddha statue, the 26.5-meter-tall Janraisig.
