Sibu, Malaysia, is home to the following famous attractions: 1. Sibu Heritage Centre: Located in the former Sarawak Municipal Building, this is a great place for history lovers. Here, you can learn about Sibu's rich history, including the stories of Chinese immigrants from different dialect groups. The center also displays old photos, cultural exhibits of other ethnic groups in the Rejang River area, and exquisite antique artifacts such as Chinese porcelain and clay vases. Sometimes, special exhibits such as real skulls from Iban longhouses are on display. These exhibits reflect the headhunting customs that once existed in Dayak culture, as well as specimens of animals such as flying squirrels, orangutans, and hornbills. 2. Bukit Lima Nature Reserve: Located in the Kampung Sentosa residential area in the city center, the reserve has jungle trails suitable for forest walks and runs. It is a paradise for birdwatchers, with 39 species of birds inhabiting the area, such as flowerpeckers, sunbirds, and babblers. While jogging leisurely, you may also see wild animals such as pangolins, giant squirrels, banana squirrels, treeshrews, and sambar deer. 3. The Lau King Howe Hospital Memorial Museum: Malaysia's first and only medical museum. It was established in memory of Lau King Howe, who came to Sibu in 1915. He initially helped with rubber planting activities, and later dedicated his life to helping the people of Sibu and the Rejang River Valley. The museum displays remnants of old medical equipment and photos, detailing his story. The museum is closed on Mondays and open from 9 am to 5 pm on other days. 4. Wong Nai Siong Memorial Park: If you are interested in history, this is a place worth visiting. You can learn about the history of Wong Nai Siong, a Chinese revolutionary leader who led a large number of Fuzhou immigrants to Sibu in 1901. 5. Lin's Swan Garden: Located next to the Sibu Gateway in the city center, the large swan is a typical symbol of Sibu Town, and there are also sculptures of the 12 zodiac animals nearby. 6. Rajang River: Malaysia's largest river, Sibu is located on the banks of the Rajang River. Visitors can take a ferry from Sibu to Kapit, enjoy a river cruise, and admire the scenery along the way. 7. Pasar Sentral Sibu: One of Malaysia's largest farmers' markets, this is an important place for the people of Sibu. The market has 1,500 stalls selling fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, and various daily necessities. If you visit on the weekend, the market is even more lively. 8. Tapak Pasar Malam Sibu: Located on Jalan Market, Jalan Lintang, and Jalan Bengkel, the night market is open from 6 pm to 10 pm. Every night, there are more than 100 stalls selling various daily necessities, snacks, and clothing. The half-moon cakes and roti john are very popular.
