The most photogenic filming location in the Magic City: Shanghai Mansion

Many locals in Shanghai might not even know about the existence of Shanghai Mansion. Today, taking advantage of the nice weather, I went to check it out and was surprised by how photogenic it is. I also want to share the story of this building with everyone. - Shanghai Mansion was originally built in 1930 and completed in 1934. Its original name was "Broadway Mansions." It was invested in by the British-owned "Ye Guang Real Estate Company," and Hungarian architect László Hudec participated in its design. It was originally a luxury apartment hotel for foreign expatriates and senior staff. - Regarding its architectural style: a combination of Art Deco and Modernism. The exterior is simple and upright, with contour lines emphasizing vertical extension. The top tiers taper off, forming a stepped tower shape. - You can notice in the background of my photos that the facade of Shanghai Mansion uses brown Taishan bricks, paired with vertical window bands and simple geometric decorations, reflecting the modern feel of Art Deco. - Standing 78 meters tall, it was once one of the tallest buildings in Shanghai. - Check-in address: No. 20 North Suzhou Road, at the confluence of the Suzhou River and the Huangpu River, facing the Bund’s international architectural exhibition group across the river. It is one of the classic viewing platforms overlooking the Bund and Lujiazui, and also an excellent angle for photography. It complements the Waibaidu Bridge behind it perfectly.
