📽️1. Church on the Blood In 1918, the Ipatiev House was requisitioned for the last Tsar Nicholas II and his family. On the night of July 16–17 of the same year, the last Tsar and his wife, their five children (the youngest was only 14), a chef, a doctor, and two servants, a total of 11 people, were brutally murdered in the basement of the Ipatiev House (each person was shot multiple times). In 2000, the Church on the Blood was built on the site of the Ipatiev House to commemorate the death of the last Tsar, and was completed in 2003. The church is free to visit, and women need to cover their hair (free headscarves are available in the church). Opening hours: Daily 7:00–23:00 There is a museum next to the church, and the main exhibits are archives related to the last Tsar's family, and the belongings of the royal family and their servants who died with them, collected from all over the world. Tickets: RUB 250 Opening hours: Monday 10:00–17:00, Tuesday to Sunday 10:00–19:00 The church is located in the center of Yekaterinburg, and you can take a taxi there for a very low price. 📽️2. Monastery of the Holy Martyrs After the last Tsar and his family and servants were executed in 1918, their bodies were destroyed and dumped in an abandoned mine in the forest on the outskirts of Yekaterinburg. In 2000, at the Russian Orthodox Bishops' Conference, the last Tsar Nicholas II and his family were posthumously canonized as martyrs, and in the same year, the Monastery of the Holy Martyrs (a group of churches) was built on the site where their bodies were dumped. There is a small museum related to Tsar Nicholas II in the monastery. Visiting the monastery and museum is completely free. Museum of Military and Civilian Technology The museum is located in the small town of Upper Pyshma on the outskirts of Yekaterinburg, and is currently one of the largest museums of its kind in the world. There are a total of 4 halls, with more than 12,000 exhibits, including Soviet and other countries' armored vehicles (from BT-7 fast tanks to T80 main battle tanks (this type of tank is still in service)), light weapons, Soviet and other countries' military and civilian aviation equipment (including Soviet Po-2 trainers (formerly known as U-2), Avro 504, Tu-134, etc.), as well as antique cars and limited edition cars such as the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost produced between 1902 and 1926, and DeLorean DMC-12.
