Shanxi Self-Guided Tour

Upon landing in Taiyuan, take a train to Pingyao Ancient City and stay for one night. It's best to stay within the ancient city to enjoy the night view. On the second day, explore the ancient city before checking out. In the afternoon, visit 'Again Pingyao,' a must-see attraction, then take an evening train directly to Datong. Stay at the All Seasons Hotel in Dayou Plaza, as the All Seasons chain is reliable. On the third morning, visit the Yungang Grottoes, and in the afternoon, explore Datong Ancient City, which is quite modernized. On the fourth day, hire a car to visit the Hanging Temple, Mount Heng, and the Wooden Pagoda. On the fifth day, return to Taiyuan and visit the Shanxi Museum in the afternoon. On the sixth day, visit Jinci Temple and Taiyuan Ancient City in the morning, and the pedestrian street in the afternoon. Taiyuan has relatively fewer attractions. On the seventh day, take an early train to Linfen West. Pre-book a bus to Hukou Waterfall, and you can leave your luggage on the tour bus. Return to Linfen West around 4 PM and continue your train journey to Xi'an. Since there are only flights from Hong Kong to Taiyuan on the 1st and 5th of each month, return via Xi'an. Non-Mainland Chinese Citizens Notice: Tickets for the Hanging Temple cannot be booked online and can only be purchased on-site. There is a limited number of tickets available daily.
