Jingpo Lake is the largest highland barrier lake in China and the second largest in the world, located on the mainstream of the Mudan River, a tributary of the Songhua River, in the southwestern part of Ning'an City, Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province, China, 100 kilometers from Mudanjiang, at an altitude of 351 meters. The average depth of the lake is 40 meters. The general water level is at its highest at 353.65 meters and at its lowest at 345.61 meters throughout the year, with an average annual flow rate of 9.2 to 10 cubic meters per second, and a storage capacity of 1.625 billion cubic meters. The most famous attraction is the Diaojiaolou Waterfall. It is a renowned tourist destination, a summer retreat, and a health resort, a national model of civilized scenic tourism area, a national key scenic spot, an international ecological tourism resort for summer vacations, and a world geopark. When the Earth was still very young, the area around Jingpo Lake was full of mischievous babies, with more than a dozen volcanoes erupting day and night. After millions of years of the Hengluan Era, it finally took on the appearance we see today. The Jingpo Lake, stretching over 100 kilometers, is now the world's largest lava-dammed lake, with several volcanic craters becoming underground forests, as well as underground lava tunnels, and dozens of wetlands and ponds, with 95% of the land covered by forest vegetation. The unique volcanic geology has created the magical geological wonders of Jingpo Lake; here, not only does the lake not freeze at temperatures of minus twenty or thirty degrees, but there are also freshwater fish storms, volcanic crater forests, and lava tunnels among the landscapes... Stepping into this place, the pleasant lake and mountain scenery is very relaxing. Taking a boat tour of the lake for about an hour, sailing under the blue sky and white clouds, feels truly like stepping into a fairy tale.
