There is a legend that as the temple declined during the Joseon Dynasty, it was said that if Japan prospers, Silsangsa declines, and if Japan declines, Silsangsa prospers. The three-story stone pagoda at Baekjangam Hermitage, National Treasure No. 10, and the iron seated Buddha statue enshrined in Yaksa Hall, made in the late Silla period, is the largest iron Buddha statue remaining in Korea, measuring 3 meters in height. It is designated as Treasure No. 42. Since iron Buddha statues are rare in Korea, if you visit Namwon, you should definitely see this iron Buddha statue.
