Merzouga Town Tour

#celebratewithtrip Merzouga is a small Moroccan town in the Sahara Desert, near the Algeria border about 50 kilometers. It is known as the gateway to Erg Chebbi, a huge expanse of sand dunes north of the town. The guided tour will bring you to the palm trees field and gardens nearby, then to the waterpoint, where the locals fill the water from here. The Morocco National 4X4 Auto Museum, a cool little museum. It exhibits some rare vehicles that I have never seen before, worth the visit. Khamila Village is a black African from the Gnawa tribe, performing their traditional music in the room. Then settle for lunch at a local guesthouse, and wait for my camel ride.

I can’t even put into words how much I loved the three days I spent in this little town in the Sahara Desert. Merzouga is situated near the Algerian border, and is the perfect base from which to experience the culture and beautiful landscapes of the Sahara. You’ll find a massive expanse of sand dunes here, making you feel like you’re worlds away from civilization. But in fact, Merzouga is fairly easy to access, and has plenty of accommodations to make it an easy add to your Morocco itinerary. Stay at least two nights in a luxury desert camp to get the full experience and to give yourself enough time to unwind. Don’t miss ATV riding around the dunes, a musical performance from the local Berbers, and dinner under the stars. #awesomepic
