If you must visit Kashgar, I recommend Carpet Street.

Most people visit Kashgar for the Old Town, and we were no exception. We transferred at Aksu and arrived at around 7 am, before sunrise. We first went to our accommodation to store our luggage, then took a taxi to Kashgar Old Town. It was not yet 8 am, and the sky was just beginning to lighten. We searched for popular photo spots and followed the guides, but we didn't expect so many people with professional equipment to be there before sunrise. We couldn't compete with them, so we just wandered around the Old Town like regular tourists. Here are some insights from our visit: 1. You can enter the Old Town at any time, but don't go too early. The previous day's trash is still scattered everywhere, making it very dirty and messy. If you're not particularly interested in popular photo spots, just take a quick look and don't waste too much time waiting in line. The architecture in Kashgar Old Town is quite unique, so you can find a quiet alley and take beautiful photos. 2. If you arrive early and want to have breakfast in the Old Town, make sure to ask the owner about the ingredients and contents if they're not clear. We bought a basket of buns filled with fresh lamb, which we found a bit hard to get used to. 3. The welcoming performance in the Old Town is very unique, but there are many people. For the morning show, you need to arrive early to get a good viewing spot. If you can't get to the front row, you can find a safe spot across the street. Although it's a bit far, you can still see clearly. 4. You can haggle for souvenirs and cut the price in half, but make sure to ask about the materials first. I found a beautiful wood carving in a shop, but it was a defective product with a broken corner. I asked for the price and found it reasonable, so I didn't haggle much. Before paying, I asked about the materials, and one owner hesitated while another casually said it was local poplar wood. We treasured it all the way home, only to find out it was a resin ornament. Even after haggling, it was much more expensive than a brand-new one online. 5. I recommend visiting the local bazaar and Carpet Street, which are not far from each other. You can buy delicious fruits and craft carpets. Carpet Street and the entrance street are lined with shops selling carpets, and the prices are similar. If you find something suitable, don't hesitate to buy it.
