Kunming Sanjiacun Reservoir Guide.

It's the best time of year to see the dawn redwoods at Sanjiacun Reservoir in Kunming. The scenery is beautiful and the photos are amazing. I went on Sunday afternoon, November 24, and here's my experience: 1. It's very congested on Saturdays and Sundays. I left at 3 pm and planned to arrive at the reservoir at 4 pm, but I didn't arrive until after 5 pm. The sun sets early in winter, so it was already down by 6 pm. Make sure to arrive early, or you'll end up like me, with no sunlight left for photos. 2. You can ride a motorcycle up, which is very convenient. It's difficult for cars to pass each other, but motorcycles can go around the reservoir. 3. You can camp, but make sure to take your trash with you. 4. There are very few restrooms. I only found one, and it was a rural dry toilet with a line. 5. Navigate to Sanjiacun Reservoir and follow the road. There will be staff to guide you. You'll see a parking lot on the left, where there will be a broadcast calling for guests. You can go to the first viewing spot from there, but there's a fee. There are snacks for sale. After taking photos, go left and keep going until you reach an art base, where you can also take photos. 6. If you want good photos, go on a sunny day. There were too many clouds when I went, so the photos didn't turn out well.
