Hengshan Zhenyuan Hall, commonly known as Chaodian, is the main hall of Hengshan in Beiyue. It is located between the cliffs of Tianfengling. Built in the 14th year of Hongzhi's reign in the Ming Dynasty, the buildings gradually rose up along the mountain. It consists of Chongling Gate, Qinglong Hall, White Tiger Hall, Nantian Gate, Bell and Drum Tower, Sutra Pavilion, etc. The architecture has the characteristics of northern Shanxi, with carved dragons, painted tigers, and flying eaves with dragons. It is an important religious building in Hengshan and also a physical material for studying the architectural structure of the Ming Dynasty in northern Shanxi.
