Your next 1-Day Dunhuang Road Trip

Mingsha Mountain, Crescent Lake, and the Mogao Caves are must see sights in Dunhuang. But if you have some extra time, why not go against the grain and visits some sights in the west of Dunhuang too? Here’s the spots I visited on my one day west Dunhuang tour: Yangguan Pass, Yumen Pass, Yardang National Geopark, and the west part of the Han Dynasty Great Wall! The trip took the entire day (about 9 hours), but it was totally worth it! Every sight felt fresh and more incredible than the last. To visit all these sights it’s definitely recommended to drive. You could rent a car and drive yourself for more freedom, or join a tour group for a more structured trip.
