Dongshan Battle Martyrs Cemetery

Dongshan Battle Martyrs Cemetery is located in Shitanpu, behind Shitan Village, in the middle of Dongshan County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It is a patriotic education base announced by the Fujian Provincial Government and the fifth batch of "National Key Martyrs Memorial Building Protection Units" announced by the State Council. On September 7, 2018, it was included in the ninth batch of provincial cultural relics protection units by the Fujian Provincial People's Government. The cemetery was built in 1953. On July 16 of that year, the Kuomintang authorities in Taiwan, in order to cooperate with the US invasion of Korea and destroy the construction of the motherland, sent more than 13,000 naval, land, and air forces to invade Dongshan Island under the cover of aircraft, ships, and tanks. Our army and people fought bravely, defeated the invading Kuomintang army, annihilated more than 3,000 Kuomintang troops, and won a brilliant victory in the defense of Dongshan. After the battle, in order to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to defend the security of the motherland, the "Dongshan Battle Martyrs Cemetery" was built in Shitanpu, where our army and people once fought bloody battles with the Kuomintang army, for future generations to admire. The Dongshan Battle Martyrs Cemetery is magnificent, with memorial buildings such as martyrs' tombs, monuments, memorial halls, and memorial pavilions. 🕙Opening hours: Open all year round for free, 9:00 am–12:00 pm, 3:00 pm–5:00 pm. ⏳Visiting time: 30 minutes to 1 hour.
