Matterhorn Lodge Boutique Hotel & Apartments
4.6/578 Reviews
The Matterhornlodge is located about a 5-10 min walk from the Zermatt station. We arrived at about 1pm and were informed that check-in was only at 2pm so we went for lunch and returned at around 2.30pm. We were greeted by Ruth, the proprietress of the hotel, who gave us a comprehensive briefing of the house rules and policies. Ruth was very warm, friendly, and charming; she was very guest-focused and was happy to find out more about where we were from and what we planned to do. Ruth even gave us recommendations for Bern when we told her we were going there next. Although the hotel is stated to be 4 stars, we were very impressed by the room and the amenities. The bathroom came with a bidet and the toiletries provided were of good quality. The room was also very spacious with enough room to open up 2 luggage bags. The towels and robes were thick, warm, and fluffy. The breakfast provided in the morning was also quite good with a decent selection of breads, cold cuts, cheese, and eggs. At checkout, Ruth also gave us a complimentary ride to the train station in her electric vehicle. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at the Matterhornlodge and we were very impressed by Ruth’s hospitality.
Schloss Zermatt - Active & CBD Spa Hotel

The staff are very friendly and will provide all kinds of assistance, including if you need transportation to the train station 2 minutes away :) The location of this hotel is very convenient, right next to the train station, about 2 minutes' walk on a small road. There are co-op, McDonald's, etc. nearby, so you don't need to worry about eating. It is also very close to Station Street, where there are various clothing and accessories stores, which is also a good place for shopping. As for getting to various attractions, it is also very convenient. Next to the hotel's alley exit is the station to Gornergrat and the bus stop to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. There is a small road behind the hotel, and you can reach the cable car station for Five Lakes Hiking in a few minutes after leaving. Breakfast has many choices and tastes good. This hotel has free SPA and Yoga courses, but I was in a hurry on this trip and didn’t try them. It was a very good stay experience!
Hotel Firefly

Looking for the best place to stay in Zermatt, you can’t get any better than Firefly. Our family of six enjoyed a beautiful, modern 4 bedroom suite with a kitchen, dining room and living room with a fireplace and a spectacular view of the Matterhorn. But it’s the special touches that made our stay above and beyond what we expected. We were picked up at the train station and while we were given a tour of the Firefly, all our luggage was being carefully situated in our suite! Our tour consisted of a lovely lounge/bar, the spa area (pool, two saunas, a jacuzzi, a salt room, aromatherapy) all of which were free to use ( which we did!) Our suite came with robes and slippers and even a backpack to use for outings, dreamy bedrooms each with a flat screen, and the use of PlayStation /w games. And to top it off each morning our dining table was outfitted with beautiful tablecloth and table settings for 6 and a breakfast spread to our order. Staff was so ultra friendly and accommodating. Location to reach the Matterhorn was just a few minutes walk. Our only regret when we were given a complimentary ride back to the train station is we wish we would have booked a longer stay. Firefly is the one hotel in Switzerland to which we would make a return trip!
Hotel Plateau Rosa

I stayed here 2 nights in early June 2023. The hotel room was large and comfortable and modern enough. Would have been nice to have a hot pot/coffee available in the room. There is a good breakfast, and a nice view of the Matterhorn outside the back by the breakfast room. Things to be aware of: There is major construction for a cable car station right across from the hotel, and the street/walkway was also right in front of my room - so no opportunity to really open any window. There is no reception staff after 9, so I could hear several people putting in the code to get in, or calling to get the code to get in the door. The construction started anytime between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Sleeping time was quiet though. I wanted to love it - and the town of Zermatt is great, but just couldn’t get past my room location and noise, and was told there was no option to change rooms.
Grand Hotel Zermatterhof

I was charged for an additional 288 Swiss FR for “additional guest”. when I checked out. only because I did not put My Son’s name when I did the booking, but I booked a twin room and my son naturally stay with me. not to mention he’s my 13 year old son. they can charge me for additional breakfast. That’s totally OK. but additional person for twin room?really? And Main thing I was not told I will be charged when I checked in. That is not fair I will reflect this to Swiss tourism office. Btw. The staff are 100% good. Very friendly but I am sickened by the strange policy.
Hotel Metropol & Spa Zermatt

Good value, family run hotel in a good location. Five minutes walk from the town centre but a bit quieter, next to the river. Our room had a great view of the Matterhorn! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Rooms were immaculately clean and had everything we needed. There were no evening meals while we were there, due to a shortage of staff, but the breakfast buffet was fine and we could order freshly made omelettes or bacon & eggs to set us up for days spent hiking and mountain biking. We didn’t use the pool area or spa, but the gardens and terrace would be nice when the weather is a bit warmer. The only thing that could be improved is that the decor in the bedrooms is slightly tired with no pictures on the walls. However the location, good service and reasonable value for money outweighed that. I would stay again if I returned to Zermatt.
