Top rated hotels in Tempe

DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Tempe

The room was clean and decent for the price but I was disappointed that the breakfast was extra and the pool / hot tub doesn't appear to be open. I tried visiting the pool at 10 at night and at 7:50 in the morning. Also saw guests trying to use the pool after 8 in the morning without any luck. Perhaps the hours are such that it is unavailable a lot of the time which is annoying b/c that is one of the perks of the hotel and its enclosed so you'd think they'd keep that open. Also this particular location is not the best in that It's in a crappier area of town. Some shady characters walking around the outside. Was expecting better for the price but I have stayed at much worse hotels.

My stay at Homewood Suites in Tempe, Arizona, exceeded all expectations, thanks to the remarkable staff, with special mention to Samantha and Amanda. Their exceptional service went above and beyond, making my experience truly memorable. From the spotless room to the fantastic location, every aspect of my stay was met with enthusiasm and professionalism. I'm genuinely impressed with the entire staff, and Samantha and Amanda's dedication added an extra layer of excellence. A solid five-star recommendation for their outstanding service and hospitality.
Canopy by Hilton Tempe Downtown

Really nice hotel to stay in downtown Tempe. Pretty much in the middle of everything. Can walk to Mill Ave and anywhere on the ASU campus. I'm giving a 4-star review only because of a couple of minor / nitpicky items we encountered. The pool was not available to use due to a pump failure. I think it would have been nice to hear this at check-in but not the end of the world. No self-park option is rough. $39 per night to valet seems high and the app the valets use to get tips automatically jumps to $7 per encounter (obviously you can change that). As a Diamond member, it's always nice to be upgraded or at the very least, be recognized at check-in with a ”let me see if I have a better room for your stay....” - something to that affect. Unfortunately, we didn't get that experience, nor did we get an upgrade. Again, not the end of the world. Regarding the room, it was really nice and spacious. Clean as well. Canopy has ”traditional” daily housekeeping, unlike some of the other Hilton brands. My wife is a notoriously light sleeper and unfortunately, we usually have issues with the AC being loud. That wasn't the case here, but the refrigerator ”drawer” was really loud. If we could've reached the plug, we would have just unplugged it for the stay. All in all, the staff was friendly, the hotel was clean and accommodating, we just had the handful of minor issues mentioned previously. I would still recommend this hotel and will definitely be back to visit our son at ASU.
Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix Tempe, University Research Park

Stayed here for 7 nights while attending a conference. Had absolutely no problems at all. Checked in and out using the app and the digital key. Room was clean, quiet, and had all the amnenities that we needed. Nice dressing area and plenty of counter space in the bathroom. Small food area with microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. Television had a great picture. Beds were comfy with plenty of room on the nightstand, charging stations, and a book light. Blinds closed to fully darken room for sleeping. Could not hear people in other rooms or in the hallway.

I stayed for 5 nights on a business trip. Pros: Front desk staff is really friendly and helpful! The room is spacious and has a lot of storage for a hotel room. The kitchenette is nice - full-size refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, dishes and a dishwasher. You can check out a cook top from the front desk if you need it. The fitness room (shared with the adjacent hotel) is quite large. 5 or so treadmills, 4 ellipticals, a couple of bikes, a rowing machines and weights. The pool area is very nice. Besides lounge chairs, there are tables with chairs with cushions. There's also a firepit (gas). There is also a bar but it wasn't staffed when I was there. Cons: It is a little inconvenient to have to check in at the hotel next door, but it's not as big of a deal as some have made it. The other hotel is attached and the door is maybe 100 feet away. Once you are in, you can walk inside to get between the two. The breakfast is really lacking - especially when you are likely catering to people who are going to be there a while. The selections are the same from day to day - pre-made cheese omelets, bagels and bread, waffles, oatmeal. No fruit except some old looking whole apples and oranges. Mixed, cut fruit would be nice! The hotel next door offers a better breakfast but you have to pay for it. I stayed on the side facing the pool and it was nice and quiet. My co-worker stayed on the side facing the highway and she said it was very noisy all night! They do not clean your room daily unless requested the night before. a big deal and it's pretty standard right now. Except- then give me 5 days worth of coffee instead of making me go to the desk to get it! The location is in a light industrial area which means you won't be walking to restaurants or shops (except Badlands which is right next door. It's really good!) I will be back in the area for work again in a few months. Will I stay here again? Maybe, but I'll also check out some other options.
