Great place to stay at near ASU. Amazing rooftop bar that is amazing to watch the sunset.
Will definitely stay there again next time we are is Phoenix.
The room was clean and decent for the price but I was disappointed that the breakfast was extra and the pool / hot tub doesn't appear to be open. I tried visiting the pool at 10 at night and at 7:50 in the morning. Also saw guests trying to use the pool after 8 in the morning without any luck. Perhaps the hours are such that it is unavailable a lot of the time which is annoying b/c that is one of the perks of the hotel and its enclosed so you'd think they'd keep that open. Also this particular location is not the best in that It's in a crappier area of town. Some shady characters walking around the outside. Was expecting better for the price but I have stayed at much worse hotels.
Really nice hotel to stay in downtown Tempe. Pretty much in the middle of everything. Can walk to Mill Ave and anywhere on the ASU campus. I'm giving a 4-star review only because of a couple of minor / nitpicky items we encountered. The pool was not available to use due to a pump failure. I think it would have been nice to hear this at check-in but not the end of the world. No self-park option is rough. $39 per night to valet seems high and the app the valets use to get tips automatically jumps to $7 per encounter (obviously you can change that). As a Diamond member, it's always nice to be upgraded or at the very least, be recognized at check-in with a ”let me see if I have a better room for your stay....” - something to that affect. Unfortunately, we didn't get that experience, nor did we get an upgrade. Again, not the end of the world. Regarding the room, it was really nice and spacious. Clean as well. Canopy has ”traditional” daily housekeeping, unlike some of the other Hilton brands. My wife is a notoriously light sleeper and unfortunately, we usually have issues with the AC being loud. That wasn't the case here, but the refrigerator ”drawer” was really loud. If we could've reached the plug, we would have just unplugged it for the stay. All in all, the staff was friendly, the hotel was clean and accommodating, we just had the handful of minor issues mentioned previously. I would still recommend this hotel and will definitely be back to visit our son at ASU.

This review is long overdue. Had to stay here on a mission to help a family member this past summer, definitely not a vacation stay and this hotel suited our needs very well, with one exception, I'll get to that in a bit. First thing: we got in late on a Sunday night and I was really hungry, The woman working the front desk on Sunday June 27th 2021 went above and beyond to try and find food for us, even offering to go into the closed hotel kitchen to scrounge something up. Then she called several places until she found one open and helped negotiate the whole transaction, being very patient with me and my exhausted brain failures. When she did secure a food delivery, told me to go on up to the room and she would deal with the delivery driver. I've gotten less help at a 5 star hotel, this person seemed to have genuine concern for us and I failed completely in that I didn't tip her (so tired I forgot, sorry!) and didn't even get her name to mention her here. I assumed I'd see her again. Hope she somehow sees this review, so grateful for the help. Beyond that the hotel had a fantastic lobby, good clean modern design all over with cooler colors in the rooms, comfortable beds, good room layout, clean, nice bathroom. Very reasonably priced. We only had one problem in a week long stay, one night some very loud people stayed in the next room, at least 4 or 5 people going in and out all night and talking super loud. Couldn't figure out if the walls were really thin or if the people were just louder than average humans, probably both, but leaning on the people being especially loud. Given the proximity to the university, this type of thing is to be expected really, and I don't actually blame the hotel, it's just something to be aware of. The front desk were helpful in the matter in that they were willing to tell us those people weren't booked for another night, but if we continued to have problems we could let them know, so hotel staff did what they could. All in all for the very good price I was satisfied with our stay, it was nearly perfect for our needs and that Sunday night desk person was an absolute life saver.
My stay at Homewood Suites in Tempe, Arizona, exceeded all expectations, thanks to the remarkable staff, with special mention to Samantha and Amanda. Their exceptional service went above and beyond, making my experience truly memorable. GGuest UserWas really surprised with the area. It was in a really nice location there is a market place 10 minutes away with so much to do it was really clean, the room almost looked like it had never been used as some appliances still had wrapping on them. Would choose this hotel again. Checkin was fast, employee even showed us the best way to get to our concert venue and reminded us about the free breakfast.
GGuest UserA basic choice as the name would imply however a solid one. It's clean, functional and everything the brand offers with plenty of parking. Conveniently situated next to main roads for most things Phoenix related. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly enough and they managed my deliveries of parcels very well indeed. Overall it's not a romantic gateway but a well managed practicle choice.
AAnonymous UserGood location. Need to pay for parking lot maintenance (5.12$ per day) when check-in apply to both people with and without car. Good staffs.
GGuest UserOur 4-day stay here was well worth the price. The front desk staff were all exceptionally friendly and accommodating, which got our stay off to a positive start. The hotel itself is clean and well-maintained, although it is not a new property. The rooms are comfortable and pretty typical for a Comfort Inn. The price was reasonable, with a special 4-night promotional deal. Although there were no hot breakfast items because of Covid, there was a good variety of muffins, sweet rolls, and other items that made this breakfast buffet better than other similar hotels that we have stayed at recently. The wi-fi worked very well. The location is convenient, just north of ASU and off a 202 freeway exit. The only negative was traffic and airplane noise. The hotel is located close to a busy street, and also in the departure part of aircraft when they are taking off to the east. Perhaps there are rooms that are better shielded from the noise (our room faced north, on the 2nd floor). Other than the noise, our stay was comfortable and very enjoyable. Everything considered, we would stay here again.
GGuest UserWhen we checked in the nicest lady checked us in and said not to worry about all the fans and blocked off areas that they had a fire on the third floor yesterday. When we asked what the fire was caused by she said she didnt know but it was in a different area and they were cleared to be structurally sound. As we walked onto the floor every window was open and the floor reacked of smoke. It was so hot and humid and smelled like a Texas BBQ as the fire was on the same floor as they had us on. Serious safety concerns with air quality and safety with no disclosure of fire until we arrived at the hotel even though the fire was 24 hours earlier. Oh and btw still charging full price.
GGuest UserThis place is as crooked as the day is long. I had a $107 charge on my checking account and I do not remember making the reservation nor did I receive any email correspondence warning me that I was being expected there. When I called they advised me to contact Expedia. When Expedia called them, they told them I was out of luck. Thanks for the $107. This is likely why they are a 2 star hotel with terrible reviews. They are more interested in the short term money snatching than with the idea of creating any goodwill with guests.
I am not really a ”reviews” person, but there is no way I could let this awful experience go without trying to warn others. Please do not stay here. Not only was it downright DISCUSTINGLY dirty, but it was also very unsafe. We got into the room and we were immediately hit with a terrible stale smoke smell. Definitely, no exaggeration, the worst thing I have ever smelled in my life. If that wasn't bad enough, the bed spread was stained so bad with tons of black spots everywhere. There were cigarette burns on the counter and the floor. While we were waiting to get a new room, my friend and I really didn't even feel comfortable standing in the room to wait. But what was more uncomfortable than being in the room was being out of it. This place is crawling with shady characters who are very very clearly on meth/heroin/ or crack. We got stared down by multiple people that made us both feel unsafe in a way we have never felt. We both agreed if we would have stayed there, we would certainly be robbed or worse. Before we even got a new place to stay (we had no plan and we did not even have a car with us), we got a refund and went to the restaurant next door to figure out our next step. This restaurant had gun shots in the window if that tells you anything about the area. Anyways, please, please, please do not stay here. I have never felt so passionate to get the word out about anything. I can't really even describe the fear we felt being there.
