"Initially, I was torn between choosing between Kai Beppu and Harumi, and I'm so glad I ultimately went with Harumi. From the service to the facilities, this onsen (hot spring) ranks as one of the best I've visited in Japan, alongside Izu, Arima, and Karuizawa. Enjoying a hot soak with family, then relaxing on the balcony listening to the ocean waves while sipping a drink—it was such a perfect evening. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was outstanding, featuring many local specialties. I'll definitely be back!"

"It felt more like a business ryokan hotel and I don’t mean it in a bad way. The onsens were very very beautiful, and I absolutely loved my stay in Kunisakisou. At night, there are hot mists surrounding the ryokan and town, which made me understand why Beppu was called the town/onsen of hell. I asked for breakfast at the last minute and it was the best meal I had throughout my whole trip in Beppu. Thank you for the lovely stay!
P.S. Restaurants around the hotel close early so go to dinner around 5-6pm. Later than that, it will not be open. There’s two convenience stores within 10 minutes distance however I’m not sure if they were 24/7."

AAnonymous UserThis is an excellent hotel. It's nestled on a mountain overlooking the ocean, offering beautiful scenery. The hot springs are fantastic, and they even have private baths available for an extra charge. Dinner was superb; we had Japanese cuisine in an elegant setting. The Japanese chef was very professional, and the dishes were outstanding. Breakfast was semi-buffet style and also delicious. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped, very clean, and offer sea views.

DDraculazhiyiI stayed two nights in a room on the 9th floor, so here's my experience. In terms of facilities, the hotel is relatively new and the amenities are quite good. The reception is located in a villa, presumably an extension of an older building, which adds a unique charm. There are only two suites per floor, so the rooms are very spacious. The indoor onsen (hot spring bath) was particularly impressive and very comfortable. The large public bath is in another building a three-minute walk away, located on the first floor as an infinity pool; I recommend experiencing it at sunset – it's wonderful. As for the food, the kaiseki cuisine here is of extremely high quality, the best of the two hotels I stayed at in Beppu. The restaurant, Matsushu, in the new building, consists entirely of private rooms, the number of which seems to correspond to the number of rooms. Japanese breakfast and dinner are enjoyed in these private rooms, which is very pleasant. I also tried their buffet breakfast in another building, which was quite good, especially the high-quality fruit. Location-wise, there's a bus stop right outside. Whether you're going to Beppu Station, Kannawa Onsen, or a large shopping mall, you only need to take one bus, which is very convenient. Overall, it was a very memorable stay and I would definitely return.

MM231559****This Hoshino Kai hotel meets the usual high standards of the chain, and its direct ocean view is a big plus. The food, however, was just okay—nothing special compared to other Kaiseki meals I've had elsewhere. My mom even said she wasn't full. The small ice cream was delicious though! The staff's English was pretty good, and they were very enthusiastic when communicating.

JJudith AldI stayed at the female room which is very wide and it was quite so I could sleep very good. Even though it’s a capsule hotel the beds are also wide and very comfortable. The price andlocation is very convenient , the hotel is on the Beppu tower and it’s 15minutes walking from the Beppu Station. They can offer to keep your luggage for free. I would stay at this place again 👍

Very nice and spacious room with lots of toiletries available downstairs. Within walking distance of the 7 hells of Beppu.

GGuest UserThe capsule was clean and very well-located, less than a 10-minute walk from Beppu Station and just 5 minutes from Takegawara Onsen, where you can enjoy a unique sand bath!
The on-site onsen with a sauna, which is included in the price, was a fantastic amenity.
Just one thing to note: there are no showers on the capsule floor, so you'll need to use the facilities within the onsen area.

The bathroom also needs to be equipped with hot and cold water.
The size of the room is satisfactory.
It's very cold, but you can control the heater.
Although it is a weekend, the price is too expensive and you have to pay a 1000 yen hot spring tax even if you do not use the hot spring when you check out.

TTengqisizhiKannawa is close to many attractions, and the owners are friendly. Translation software made communication smooth, and I confirmed my dining and check-out times upon arrival. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the open-air baths were practically like having your own private bath during off-peak hours. The area was safe at night, and you could freely wander around Kannawa. I visited Beppu's eight hot springs and seven hells, and around 11 PM, I also went to the nearby Kura Onsen. Since Kura was deserted at night, I essentially had it all to myself. The meal includes the hell bath, so you don't need to eat there repeatedly. Providing a menu would be even better.
