"A rather mediocre experience. I've been a Ctrip member for 15 years and rarely leave bad reviews, so I'll give this a passing grade of 3.0. The main reasons for the average experience were: 1. My baby had a fever in the middle of the night and couldn't get up the next day. I wanted to take some breakfast back to the room, but they wouldn't allow it, and the staff's attitude was quite stiff. At over 1700 RMB for two nights for three adults and one child, the price wasn't cheap. Since the hotel couldn't be understanding towards me, I can't be understanding towards them in my rating. 2. There must be floor heating or central air conditioning, because the room was extremely dry, even drier than indoors in Beijing during the heating season."

"I booked this B&B hotel near Wuding Gate, inside the ancient city. It's on a street but surprisingly quiet. The room was spacious and bright, with a charming Chinese decor, featuring a canopy bed with comfortable and soft bedding. The bathtub, toilet, and shower were all separate, which was great. They even offered afternoon tea and bead crafting. From here, you can easily walk to sights like the Daiwang Mansion, the city wall scenic area, the Sculpture Museum, and Huayan Temple. The freshly made pastries for breakfast every morning were delicious. It's an excellent choice for a relaxing stay within the ancient city."

"This hotel's industrial-chic design creates a sophisticated and unique ambiance. The concrete floors and minimalist layout are truly striking, making every photo opportunity Instagram-worthy. Inside the room, the tatami bed with a soft mattress is a highlight. The bathroom features a dry/wet separation and is immaculately clean with no strange odors, and all toiletries are individually packaged, showing great attention to detail. The front desk offers a complimentary 'treasure chest' of essentials like makeup remover and razors. With shopping centers and parking readily available nearby, it's convenient whether you're driving or using public transport."

"The staff were so so friendly and super nice!!! Told them it was our honeymoon and there was a handwritten note with fruits and snacks waiting for us on the table. They didn't have to, but they did ☺️ when we left, we were rushing for the train and didn't have time to eat breakfast. The staff were so concerned we were skipping breakfast she quickly packed some food for us to go and even ran after us to pass us cutlery because she forgot to pack some. Would recommend staying here 10/10!"

"A Must-Stay in Datong! I'd come back to this Siheyuan B&B a hundred times! My first trip to Datong, I came with an anticipation for the ancient city, but unexpectedly, a Siheyuan B&B (courtyard guesthouse) stole my heart and became a lasting favorite. Jiuheli is tucked away in the most central location, right by the South Gate of the ancient city. It’s an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle. Instead of towering buildings, it's a traditional Siheyuan with one ground floor and two underground levels. The grey bricks, dark tiles, wooden corridors, and expansive courtyard with dappled light seamlessly blend the elegance of traditional Chinese architecture with modern living comfort and exquisite, delicate design. The entire guesthouse has only 9 rooms, each named poetically: Luxi, Weiyu, Xianzhou, Hewan, Chunxiu, Rimu, Yunting, Wushi, Qinghe. They are few but refined, quiet but beautiful, offering a sense of peace the moment you step in. I stayed in Luxi. The name is inspired by ”Zhanzhan Lusi, Feiyang Buxi” from the Book of Songs, evoking the clear and gentle morning dew. Stepping out, you're in the courtyard, and the floor-to-ceiling windows bring natural light and greenery indoors. It's quiet, spacious, and private, free from noise, only offering relaxation. The room features smart home controls, luxurious bedding, high-quality toiletries, and thoughtful details that are just right. It's simple yet sophisticated, comfortable yet effortless, with delightful surprises at every turn. Every day spent here was filled with warmth. Gentle breezes in the courtyard in the morning, quiet tea sips in the afternoon, watching the ancient city sunset in the evening, and soft lamplight at night. The outside world's buzz is gently kept at bay, while your inner self feels endlessly healed and content. There's no complicated dining here, but that's perfectly fine because just a few steps away are the ancient city's time-honored eateries and vibrant local life. This allows you to truly immerse yourself in Datong's rhythm of life, feeling free, relaxed, and at ease. The housekeeper is discreet and never intrusive, yet always thoughtfully attentive. Welcome fruit, hot tea, meticulous care – no over-the-top service, but you always feel valued and well-treated. Meeting Jiuheli on my first visit to Datong was truly a stroke of luck. Comfortable, quiet, stylish, and warm – the perfect experience, elegant surroundings, and heartfelt details made the entire trip exceptionally fulfilling. Next time I come to Datong, I will undoubtedly choose this place again. And I sincerely recommend Jiuheli to every first-time visitor to Datong. Stay once, and you'll understand that the best travel isn't about ticking off sights, but about finding peace of mind. And for peace of mind, Jiuheli is the place."

"I chose Nan She for both of my trips to Datong, spaced about twenty days apart. The first time was by chance, but the second was a deliberate choice, both reflecting my high appreciation for every aspect of Nan She. It's located right beneath the North City Wall of the ancient city, close to Daiwang Mansion and Kuixing Tower. Its proximity to the main road makes getting around very convenient. The entrance to the North City Wall is just a few minutes' walk away, offering a superb spot to watch the sunset over the ancient city. The breakfast at the guesthouse is absolutely delicious. The rooms are spotless, and the bedding is clean; every detail is perfectly executed. The overall service is beyond words – attentive, warm, and thoughtful. Choosing the right accommodation is a crucial part of enhancing the travel experience, and both of my stays here provided an excellent one. Datong is a city you'll want to revisit; the more you get to know it, the more you'll love it. The blend of history and modernity, delicious food, and beautiful scenery offers endless appeal. "I was planning to bring my child to Datong this time, and at first, I was worried that since it was located in Dongnanyi, it might be one of those hotels that look great in advertisements but are mediocre in reality. However, it completely exceeded my expectations! The courtyard is beautiful, with water, trees, and lovely scenery. Plus, as soon as we got off the high-speed train, there was a dedicated hotel staff member to pick us up. The business van was very spacious, and the staff was kind and patient. In the room, there was a complimentary fruit platter waiting for us. The service staff were all very attentive and responsible; they even waited for us to return at night. In the morning, they prepared breakfast for us, which was quite delicious. When we left, they even gave us two large bags of souvenirs. We truly experienced service that you wouldn't get at an ordinary hotel. This trip was absolutely worth it! I highly recommend it to everyone!"
