SOL Hotels in Playa de las Americas

It's been 15 years since my last trip to Tenerife and the comments below are based on international five star hotel experiences around the globe. So here's what I experienced on this reservation:- Positives 1.Check in / out process fast and professional. 2.Direct beach access via the pool area. 3.Breakfast buffet with internal and external seating choices was excellent. 4.Evening entertainment between 21:00 and 23:00 Hrs was good. Negatives 1. Allocated R3101 upon arrival and entered to find the bath tub was extremely dirty and required solvent cleaning to remove large accumulation of water scale dirt around plug area (Approx 200mm in dia). Root cause of this problem is a leakage from the shower hose connection which remains to be fixed. 2. TV was on and could not be turned off. This was rectified by Maintenace changing the batteries within the remote control. 3. Sink plunger mechanism was broken and I was shown how to remove the plug on a daily basis once housekeeping cleaned the room. 4. Locking mechanism on the balcony sliding door is broken and extremely hard to open / closed. 5. Only one, yes one pool towel provided / guest at the pool via a plastic card that you are required to exchange at the pool towel bar. If you forget this card it's a return trip to the room. General Travel Tips. 1. Taxi from TFS Airport to hotel cost 25 Euro each way. 2. Hard Rock Cafe located next door (£££). 3. Great Italian, Thai, Japanese and British restaurants located on the second floor off the shopping complex across the road from the hotel (££££)

The hotel is very well placed. The staff is very attentive and friendly and everything is very clean. I only had breakfast at the hotel and the truth is that they had a wide assortment of products to eat. Regarding the pool, it is very small and in the area where it is located there is not even space for a small bar that serves drinks or snacks. You had to get the drinks out of a vending machine. Nobody controls the pool area so anything can happen and not exactly good. It did not occur to me to take photos of the hotel. The quality/price does not compensate me. There are hotels of the same category in the area with better facilities

My stay was great, the hotels location was about 15 mins from Tenerife south Airport by taxi which was quite convenient. Hotel was lovely, pool was lovely

I loved this hotel. Me and my boyfriend decided to go on a short holiday in half term and chose this hotel as it was relatively cheap whilst also being quite central in playa las americas. When we arrived the hotel is very clean. We got to our room and we had been given a double family room for the 2 of us. i didn’t book this so this was a nice surprise as we had a double balcony which looked over the sea and we could see the sunset. The bathroom was lovely and the rooms were very clean with huge beds, cleaned every day to a perfect standard. In the morning we had a buffet breakfast which was extensive and filled us up, the dinner buffet was also really nice and changed every night with fresh food also being made in front of you. The pool side had lots of chairs and we never struggled to get a seat, the pool was nice and a nice temperature. There was a bar near the pool with crisps and drinks and on the last day there was a pool party with music and rubber dingies which we both loved as it was some entertainment. The hotel was a 10 minute walk from the beach and the main bars and we managed to walk to many different areas with no problem. I would definitely recommend this hotel can’t fault it

Absolutely brilliant hotel. Central location at the end of the main streets and on the beach, spacious, great layout offering privacy, peace and tranquility. Pool area welcoming, matrasses on the beds, towel exchange, umbrellas, tables and the layout felt you had a private area to yourselves, unlike other 5 star hotels in TFS where you hear folks snoring/talking in the next beds. The hotel was busy but no-where seemed over crowed, with loads of layers and private areas to cool off in. Bar staff great and drinks fairly priced, no pre-mix cocktails which was a pleasant surprise. Room was comfortable, we opted for sea view double, it was bigger than expected with a good size balcony with decent chairs and table, perfect pool and sea view. Best aircon I've experienced in TFS hotels. Massive comfy bed, best pillows ever and chocolates everyday. Coffee machine, water and fridge. Huge bathroom, finished to a high standard, many quality towels that were changed regularly, great toiletries and powerful hairdryer. The hotel is immaculate, staff are friendly and attentive, we loved the uniforms, staff always smiling. The breakfast offers a great choice in a relaxed atmosphere. Reception staff friendly and helpful, organized a late checkout room which was really appreciated, check in/out efficient but not rushed, we were made to feel welcome. Can't wit to return.

We were here September 2023 & we really enjoyed it we returned this June 2024. A couple of the previous animation team have sadly left Victor & Mica but Javi & the 3 new girls Marta, Laura & Yumi were brilliant. We had a great time with them. On arrival we had a bit of a wait to check in, must admit they still dont have enough staff on reception, same as last year. We were finally checked in by a very welcoming Nicole. She gave us all the detailed info for the All Inclusive package. We had HB last year. Also our room was ready which was great. Room 101 with a Seaview. Room was very nice, small but fine. Great view of pool & sea. Only ****** was everytime we showered (daily) it flooded the bathroom floor. Just a bad fitting seal. We mentioned it to reception when we checked out so hopefully they will sort it. We just got on with with it but to other guests they may complain. We hired the safe. Makes me laugh about comments on money going missing etc. Hire the safe!!! Simples, yes you have to pay but for the amount it's a no brainer!!! You get the deposit back. Food this year I felt had slightly gone downhill. Choice & quality not as good in my opinion. The restaurant & pool bar staff were great as usual. Evening entertainment was good although for June there were alot of young children running about, over the equipment being set up for some of the shows & the parents doing nothing!!! Seemed left to the animation team to calm them down!! Not on. Parents take responsibility for your own kids! I'm sure they'd have something to say if they hurt themselves. Location of the hotel is great. Everything you want in a stones throw. Again makes me laugh when people say it's over a loud bar. Dont people do their research before they go?!
