Datong Hostels

"I arrived in Datong on a whim and booked this hostel last minute. I stayed in the 12-bed dorm which is a large dorm with a small table and chairs, lockers, a sink to brush your teeth/wash your face and a private bathroom (with a hot water shower and toilet). The beds were comfy and have curtains and the airconditioning is strong. WiFi works well too. The dorm and the bathroom are cleaned every day. The hostel provides face towels, earplugs, toothbrushes and toilet paper. There is a comfortable lounge area just outside of the dorms. It is really a great hostel, but there is one negative aspect, the private bathroom: the glass is semi-see through (which isn’t too bad since there are just women in the room), but it lets through all the noise and light. So when somebody goes to the toilet and turns on the light the whole room lights up which even with the curtains closed will disturb your sleep. Also, the toilet flush is very loud so every time somebody flushes the toilet it can be heard through the entire room which again disturbs sleep. If you’re a deep sleeper or don’t mind wearing ear plugs then I can definitely recommend the hostel!"

"I came to Datong and stayed here for three days. Downstairs is the antique street of the ancient city. It is very close to Huayan Temple. It is very convenient for shopping and eating. It is a youth hostel run by an old couple with a very good attitude. There are also two big oranges in the store, one is a relative and the other is aloof, which is very nice~"

"The hostel's location is fantastic, right next to a bus stop, making it super convenient to get to Datong Ancient City and Yungang Grottoes. They also organize trips to Mount Heng, Hanging Temple, and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, which saves a lot of hassle for solo travelers. The hostel itself has a great vibe; you can play games with other guests in the common area, and the rooms are very clean and tidy."

"The location is just ok, i haven't done so much turism there but ia a bit far from the center, the capsule is very good and they clean everything everyday. There's no stuff there so I had to ask for help to a guy just walking through the street to get in as I needed a code and they weren't answering me throw the app, tried to call them but hunged up when I talked in English.. but a part from that everything was good!"

"The hostel just opened last year, the facilities are very new, the bed is big, the boss is very talkative, chatting a lot of historical and cultural knowledge, very beneficial. When I left, the boss gave a postcard and had the opportunity to stay again next time. Forgot to take the picture of the hostel and send two pictures of the scenery to make up."

"Very good youth hostel, sorry, I ate spicy food in the room, the smell may not go away in winter, the boss noticed and brought me a bath towel and hung up my clothes, so good 🥹, I will choose this youth hostel next time I come to Datong!!!
