Disappointed. 2nd visit to Hakone Fuga. Not the same anymore. Where should I even begin. Check-in Process was a disaster. No one noticed that we had arrived nor assisted to carry our luggages from our car. What a huge difference from our first visit to Hakone Fuga. Hotel staff were more focused on domestic tourists than foreign tourist visiting. Despite arriving before 2 couples (domestic tourists), they were allowed to sit at the bar counter and were served more professionally than the front desk staff that served us who did not seem very clear in the check-in process. Furthermore, they placed us at the 2nd level and the staff didn't go the extra mile to carry all our luggages up, and we had to carry some of it ourselves. No suggestions from staff to assist us to carry it down upon check-out, we had to do it ourselves too. No introduction to the room because I mentioned we visited before once, but the room type was different from our initial stay. He carried one of our luggages up, and walked us to our room, and left. Very poor hospitality compared to our first visit The only saving grace was their dinner/breakfast staff at the restaurant as the service there felt genuine and sincere. Fusion food for the dinner course lacked the authentic Japanese experience we were looking for. If you expect to charge your guest almost 99,000 yen per night, please be prepared to UP your service and standards as they have completely fell short from our first visit to Hakone Fuga. We will definitely not return again because the entire experience felt like we were ”ghosted” by the hotel staff. If I have to rate the first visit to the second visit, it was 9/10 to 1/10 (service staff efforts dinner/breakfast). Also, if you are going to practice double standards (Japanese Customers vs Foreign Tourist), please do us a favor, don't advertise your ryokan/hotel to international tourists. You completely let us down, Hakone Fuga. We wasted our 99,000 yen on your hotel for 1 night. Other ryokans charged us lower and the service was impeccable. You need to, seriously, REFLECT

At the reception, when I was waiting, a dark female staff member said, ”If you don't wear a mask, you can't enter the building, so please buy it.” I was warned only that there were other male customers with real faces. There is no one other than the staff who pays attention to the real face, and the hot springs, dressing rooms, and the building are full of real faces. I understand that it is easy to be careful because I am a young woman, but I would like you to respond without discrimination. The mask is not sold one piece, but only 500 yen as a set. The restaurant tastes like a food court. The taste is not suitable for health-oriented people because it has plenty of additives and a small amount of vegetables. It was 16000 yen for bathing fee and restaurant for 4 adults and 2 infants. It's a super public bath atmosphere, so it's a little too expensive. It was a pity that there was a smoking corner on both the left and right sides of the entrance and exit, and I couldn't avoid the smell of cigarettes. There are many group guests who smoke, so it may be suitable for banquets. When I checked the receipt, there was no mask price. At least it is a salvation.

The location of the small hotel is a bit remote, so it's not easy to find at night. In fact, it's only a 5-minute walk from the bus station, but it may be difficult to find it for the first time - Google map is not very accurate. It's more like a homestay, with only seven or eight rooms. The environment inside and outside the hotel is very quiet, which we like very much, but it may not be suitable for everyone. There are few restaurants around, but Lawson and Family Mart are not far away, so you can basically get dinner. We ordered breakfast with Japanese style, various small dishes (I counted 15 or 16), each dish is not big, colorful, dining is very ceremonial, and the service is very good. The dining environment is first-class, with a long floor-to-ceiling window on one wall facing the yard, with the morning sunshine, beautiful! The facilities of the hot spring are relatively simple, but it is very convenient and comfortable to use, and because the hotel is small, it is basically used by one person. You have to take off your shoes and change into slippers at the door. Some people may find it troublesome, but we still like it. The hotel has luggage service. If you want to go to Yumoto or other places on the day of departure, it is recommended to transport your luggage to Yumoto first (you can pick it up at Yumoto Station, in a corner of the platform, without leaving the station). If you want to check it in, it is best to make an appointment with the front desk in advance. If you want to pick it up in Yumoto at 1:30 pm on the same day, you must hand it over to the front desk before 10 o'clock. Each piece costs 900 to 1100 yuan, which is very worthwhile. The Glass Museum can be reached by foot, about 15 minutes. If the weather is good, it is recommended to walk. The scenery along the way is very beautiful. The Pola Museum is a bit far, about 40 minutes on foot, and you can take a car to get there. If the weather is good, it is worth going, just to see the museum itself and walk the surrounding nature trail.

Staff members are well dressed with impeccable manners. The service is excellent, their anticipation of client needs is outstanding. I have sciatica and they brought a bath chair to my room within 15 minutes of check-in. When they realized the next day that it wasn't really what I needed, they immediately brought a small stool. Incredible, I never expected such caring service. The room is classy, with a wood / glass book-case. It is very clean. They provide pajamas and a warm shawl, just in case you wish to walk outside and feel cold. The couch is comfortable and besides a desk, they also provide seating for two at a separate table. My friend and I enjoyed room-service breakfast every morning - we stayed for 4 nights. The onsen and bath area is spacious with plenty of amenities. Beds are comfortable and pillows lean towards the soft side. Lighting is good. From my balcony, I can see the Koi pond with some beautiful. colorful fish. Very relaxing. Meals are well thought out with 3 different menu choices. The basic menu, a ”medium” menu and the full menu. The basic menu is sufficient for our appetite, though we tried the full menu the last evening - it was delightful but a bit filling. Wine list not big but sufficient for a couple of nights' stay. This is a quiet space with a classic atmosphere. Therefore, anyone wishing for a move lively atmosphere might wish to consider another venue. However, if relaxation and good spa treatments are what you want, it is wonderful. My friend and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys good food with onsen baths, relaxation, a beautiful tree-lined garden and great service.

Good location and view of the lake, very close to the bus, ferry and cable car station. Very cozy and with well decorated design. Staff are very nice. Buffet dinner is perfect, very good sashimi bowl rice. Good onsen.
