We packed breakfast because of our early flight. It's located almost in the center of the bustling city. Nearby are cafes, restaurants, a promenade, and a shopping center."

Lovely helpful staff and rooftop was lovely with an amazing view of Funchal. Only criticism was there was no bin in the bathroom and the minibar was not refilled each day. "We stayed here at the Vila Baleira Residence at the end of March 2026. Our Deluxe room was much smaller than we expected, they looked larger in the pictures on the Jet2 website. But it was all very clean, however there was a constant unpleasant smell coming from bathroom, again but very clean otherwise. Also one of the relaxing chairs on the balcony was broken and the cords were tied. As with the previous review the cutlery and utensils in the kitchen were sparse and there were only 4 hangers in the wardrobe and no other storage space for clothes i.e draws. We had to leave some clothes in our suitcases on the floor. We had a problem with the safe, we couldn't open it, but a helpful fella from Reception sorted it out for us. The breakfast choice was limited but fresh and plentiful. The breakfast waitress Paula was lovely, very attentive and efficient. We really missed her on her days off as the male waiter wasn't as efficient. It was a 2mile walk to the Town, it is quite hilly so we would have a Bolt back to the Hotel after a meal and glass of wine which cost just under 5 euros. There is a Lido close by with natural sea pools and sun loungers and umbrellas available to hire for 15 euros per day. We loved Madeira and will go back one day."

"Absolutely unacceptable! We had to change rooms three times in one week due to a massive ant infestation. Staff admitted the building section shouldn’t have been occupied at all. No real compensation, just a voucher for another stay – after this experience? Never again. Totally disappointing."
