We had a wonderful stay at Sweetfield Manor Barbados. Visited for the ICC Cricket T20 final where the Indian cricket team provided us with memories of a lifetime! Planned 3 nights but forced to stay another due to hurricane Beryl. The staff took excellent care of us, shifting us to a safer, larger room, providing meals free of charge. More than anything the care they showed reduced our anxiety being stranded with closed airports, cancelled flights experiencing our first category 4 hurricane. Thanks to Alicia and all the mgmt/staff. We will surely come again next time at Barbados! p.s the peacocks and beautiful hardens also make this property unique and beautiful.

Be careful in choosing this property. It looks nice from what is published but the problem lies in what is not published. The narrative shows it is located in a nice garden but immediately outside that garden things deteriorate quickly with lots of run down buildings and knocked down buildings. You would not be comfortable walking around and in any case there are no shops, cafes or restaurants within walking distance. It is a $20 US taxi ride each time you go somewhere. They insist that you actually pay your accommodation bill when you arrive, so if you choose to leave early because of the area they have your money. There were no staff, yes no staff at all, on duty on the Sunday night. We were unhappy about that and asked to see the manager the next morning but we were told she was away, she could not be contacted and no one else had any authority to discuss or decide anything. It was a thoroughly unpleasant experience and to salvage our trip to Barbados we checked out early and went to a properly run hotel. Sweetfield kept all of our pre-payed money.

The Sweetfield is a unique property with charm. Each room is different. We stayed in 2 rooms while there with very different ambiance. The hotel & rooms are very clean and staff are friendly. The Island room is large, bright with natural light & located in the main house upstairs. The Hummingbird room is in another building smaller and quite dark, but with advantage of large outside deck, swing bed & easy access to lovely rock lined pool. Pool is very refreshing & surrounded by vegetation! The good news is the hotel is set away & isolated. The bad news is that hotel is set away & isolated. Depending on your interests & taste, Note, unless you’re driving you can’t walk anywhere & need a bus or taxi.

I've been at this property as part of an event, which I may add is the perfect location and space for an intimate wedding or an event, beautiful old world charm, set in a plantation styled manor, with maintained grounds and lush foliage, even a koi fish pond, located on a hilltop on the outskirts of Bridgetown with sweeping views of the west coast, and surrounding neighborhoods, the event itself was well organized and layout well spaced...thanks to this charming property.

The hotel itself is lovely, with beautiful grounds and swimming pool. The staff are friendly and helpful. However, the 'Mahongany' named bedroom has no window in it. When the door is closed, it is a dark hole unless the bedside lamps are switched on. So very disappointing when visiting the lovely island of Barbados with it's sunshine and lush plants. Nowhere are you advised of the fact that there is at least one bedroom at the hotel that does not have a window! It totally spoilt our stay there!!

Whilst the Manor House is lovely and the dining area is very comfortable the eating experience was terrible. I emailed Sweetfield afterwards (did not want to embarrass our hosts) but not had the courtesy of a reply hence this feedback. 3 from 4 of us had the beetroot salad starter. Basically a plate of iceberg lettuce with two mini slices of beetroot and 2 mine segments of orange. Main course 3 of us had chicken curry. The worst I have ever had anywhere. A tiny pot of on the bone chicken pieces ( no breast) which I wouldn’t feed to my dog. Dessert again 3 had bread pudding….. bland and nothing more to say. We are not tourists as live on the island and definitely will not be going again. Garbage. Guy & Tracey Rothery

We booked this hotel for a pre cruise sleep over, so we could relax after our flight from UK. Super little hotel, only 10 rooms, we stayed in Flamboyant and Banaquit, both lovely rooms, with very comfortable beds. Staff were friendly and welcoming. After a good nights sleep, we had a good breakfast, lots of choice. We walked around the gardens, counting the peacocks. We left feeling refreshed and ready for our cruise.

This hotel is vastly overrated and grossly overpriced. It is in the middle of a residential neighbourhood and not within walking distance of shops/restaurants or a beach. The food is less than mediocre. The gardens are unkempt and lacking in tropical vegetation. This hotel relies on peacocks to evoke an image of the exotic but in reality the peacocks wake one throughout the night and at dawn.
