Popular Borobudur 4-star Hotels

I stayed for 2 nights and loved the quiet location (many other places are located on the main road which can be quite noisy) with great views looking across rice paddies toward the temple, which is just a short (~15 min) walk out the front door. Francesca and her staff did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable, from bringing a cool drink when we arrived to making coffee for us at 6 AM. The meals were delicious, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable - I loved the feeling of a boutique inn with outstanding attentive service - would definitely recommend this to any friend coming to Borobudur!

The external environment of the hotel is very good, and the privacy is also very good. The best thing is the private swimming pool, which is very clean. If it wasn't because of two things that affected my mood, I would give a good evaluation: 1. The situation at the time of check-in: it was clearly shown that there were two beds when booking the room, but there was only one bed after check-in. After repeated communication, Ctrip made up for the hotel The difference in the price of the extra bed was enough to stay. It was almost ten o'clock in the evening, and I was tired and hungry; 2. Problems occurred during checkout: US dollars and RMB were not accepted at checkout, and there was a problem with card swiping. I swiped the card twice and deducted money twice, but the hotel only received it once. After a long communication, the hotel promised to refund the extra deductions within 15 days I hope that after a few days, there will be no cross-border communication for this extra money. The room fee of more than 2,500 per night, check-in and check-out have problems, it should not be. In particular, this day happens to be New Year's Eve, which affects the mood very much.

Villa Borobudur was our second accommodation in Indonesia and it was the one we liked best. Since we arrived at the parking where our driver and guide left us because no car is allowed on the narrow and steep road to the entrance of the resort , I realised its beauty : Up the hill surrounded by a deep forest in front of the valley where Borobudur temple lies. The whole resort has an authentic Javanese style : we were in Borobudur suite which we found really charming : large, with a carved Javanese ceiling over the bed and a great attention to details.The bathroom was charming as well. The suite is on top of the hill completely surrounded by the lush jungle . The only sound was the one of the many birds . From our windows we could see the Borobudur temple : amazing! We loved the swimming pool facing the valley where the temple is. We were welcomed by a kind and lovely staff and were offered a very tasting ginger beer ! The sitting area and the bar were two “floors” down our suite and also from there the view was amazing. We dined at the restaurant in an open area always with the same lovely view of the valley and we tasted delicious Javanese food . I have also lived in several Amans, and I can only say that each Aman has its own advantages. This Aman is built in the tropical rainforest. The building is designed based on Borobudur. The restaurant and lobby are fully open. The architectural format is similar to a temple. The design of the whole villa suite is not comparable to many Aman. This Aman opened in 1997. Compared with the other hotels we have stayed in, the public facilities are slightly insufficient. There is no separate spa, and the spa is located in a guest room. The spa service and experience itself are still very good. Aman’s service is as usual and there are no faults. When checking in, the manager accompanied the whole process, asked about their health, answered various questions of guests, and arranged activities according to the needs of guests. I saw later that the manager had a form that recorded all the guests’ daily activities. The itinerary is very detailed. We chose Borobudur and the back mountain forest for hiking. The back mountain forest hike is very good, you can see the scenery of the whole valley, and know a lot of plants, including cloves, durians, snake skin fruits and so on. Another major feature of this Aman is that the food and beverages are particularly good. There are no good restaurants nearby. We ate at the hotel the whole time. It was the first time I saw a hotel with a full 11-page menu, and all of them can be served in the room. There are many choices. The taste is also quite good. There is also a special dinner every Friday night, which is made in the form of a food market, with traditional singing and dancing performances, which is very lively. There is also a pick-up and drop-off service, which is very convenient.

Very good! The hotel is quiet and pleasant with complete facilities. The restaurant tastes very good. You can have three meals a day here. The meticulous service of each staff makes people feel comfortable. The boss kindly asks each customer about their experience in the hotel restaurant. It can be seen that the boss loves Borobudur very much and uses a lot of Borobudur elements. It is very suitable for a quiet resort hotel to stay for a few days. From the top floor, you can see Borobudur and Mount Merapi (maybe), the sunset is on the left and the sunrise is on the right, which is very beautiful. A hotel that must be visited again. The spa level is acceptable, but it can be higher if compared with other conditions of the hotel. In short, everything is good and I will come again.

The external environment of the room is quite good, with a sense of tone. The facilities in the room are a bit old, and the sheets, quilts, and towels are not white enough. The service of the young lady at the front desk is very good. There are no decent restaurants outside the hotel, so they all solve the problem of eating in the hotel, and the taste is quite good. I checked in yesterday just in time for the local celebration of the Eid al-Fitr, singing and dancing until midnight, it was very lively, very good, and I experienced the feeling of the locals celebrating the New Year.

Excellent design of rooms as well as other buildings. A good swimming pool and sit outs. Restaurant provides food for all types. Has a great support system like hotel pick up and drop, hiring of cars/jeeps for sight seeing. Has other restaurants around within walking distance as well as upscale properties for change. Staff is smiling and helpful, honest and competent. Carry your own tipple as no wine shops around.

We spent three nights at Gopalan. The first night was a bit shaky, but not because of the hotel. There was an intermittent power outage in Borobodur. Dadang, the night manager, calmly helped us and even upgraded our room. His calming influence was a sign of things to come. Maria, the hotel manager, arranged our trip to the Borobodur Temple with a fantastic guide, Udin. She arranged Javanese massages with two expert therapists. Our driver, Teddy, arranged by Maria for our rides back and forth to Yogyakarta, was sort of a mini tour guide himself. Room was nice, a bit spartan, but fine. WiFi worked nicely, Good swimming pool. Solid cable TV. Restaurant was surprisingly good for both breakfast and dinner. Try the avocado with egg for breakfast, and the Indonesian noodles were excellent for dinner. And you're out in the country, with a working farm out your front door, and just a 20 minute walk to the Temple. Recommend highly for those seeking a relaxed atmosphere and adventure amid the Indonesian noise and pollution. Rustic, but pretty sophisticated. Great spot for walking.

AMAZING. Our favourite place we've stayed in all of Asia after a few months travelling! The bungalow and area is as beautiful as the photos and it's worth staying just for the incredible floating breakfast. Great value for money for what you get. Bobby the owner was chilled out and friendly chatting to us and other guests making us feel welcome. The views are incredible... Watching the sunset over the fields with a volcano in the backdrop was our favourite moment of Java. Pool was spotless, flowers were stunning, the design of everything inside the bungalows and outside were impressive and so artistic. The bungalow also had great air con, we didn't see any bugs or mosquitoes which surprised us and had a great hot shower. The location is far from restaurants but we ordered food via grab and were happy to stay by the pool anyway as we didn't want to leave the relaxation. If you book make sure you book more than one night as you won't want to leave!
