Cherry Maryski Hotel
3.8/552 Reviews
Alexandria is down-at-heel, chaotic and dirty. The Cherry Maryski should be at oasis from that. However, Alex is rather wonderful, but unfortunately, the Cherry Maryski is not. The staff are unnecessarily process-driven (for example, ringing you up late every night, when you are asleep, to find out how your stay is) and slightly begrudging. Everything takes too long. Check-in was at least half an hour, for no apparent reason. The food is awful and overpriced. The carpets are threadbare. The walls are literally flaking off everywhere. The lifts smell of kerosene. The pool is sleazy. And the furnishings and rooms are very, very basic! It is not a four-star hotel. In fact, it is barely a two-star one. The only good thing I would say in its favour, is the view. It is in need of a complete refit and probably a change of ownership. Alex has great potential, as does the Cherry Maryski, but at the moment the hotel is not living up to it. At all…
Sheraton Montazah Hotel

The service in the lobby is great, and it is far from the city center. The hotel beach needs to cross a road to get there. The parking lot charges 150 Egyptian pounds, and there are doormen who are responsible for parking and picking up the car. The sanitary products in the room are not complete, such as towels, and there is no hair dryer. The service attitude of the waiters is good.
Windsor Palace Luxury Heritage Hotel since 1906 by Paradise Inn Group

Beautiful old hotel on the water. I had a great sea view. The breakfast is fine but the roof top location of the restaurant and bar is great! The rooms are maybe a bit smaller than other places, but plenty for two of us and it is quite old and historic so one must understand. It’s got old decor, style, and elevator, but the bathroom, TV, and other amenities are modern and working well. I found the bed, pillows and linens to be clean and comfortable. Location is convenient- near shops, street food, other hotels with their bars and restaurants. Right between the library and the fort. You can see both from the rooftop restaurant or room balcony. About a 20 minute to walk to the library, 30-45 to the fort.
Sunrise Alex Avenue Hotel

There a two nice pools at the hotel and it has a beautiful view of the ocean. The hotel seems to be a popular destination for Egyptians to bring their kids during school holiday, so I would suggest wearing a one-piece bathing suit. Our room had a nice balcony overlooking the sea and was non-smoking. The breakfast is pretty good with a wide variety of choices, including freshly-made waffles and omelettes. We ate most of our meals at the hotel restaurants and both Izoya and Nazaya have a good ambience and above-average food. Quite pricey and popular among the locals for special occasions like birthdays. If you are a light sleeper, do not book this hotel. The original building is a beautiful historical hotel with a stained glass dome, marble floors and a ballroom, making it a perfect venue for weddings… and Egyptian weddings last until 4am, and the hotel hosted at least one pretty much every night. The music and laughter would have been a problem, except that it was almost completely drowned out by the air-conditioner, which sounded like an old VW Beetle trying to start. Honestly, I didn’t know it was possible for an AC to be so loud. Overall, the rooms and amenities are a bit out of date and faded and could do with sprucing up.
Steigenberger Cecil Hotel

The hotel is very advantageous, located in the city center square, and it is very convenient for eating and shopping. It is close to the Quebei Fort, the Alexandria Library, Pompeii, and the catacombs. The station is 2 kilometers, and downstairs is the agency of WEST Coach. The decoration is simple and elegant, and the room is relatively large.

We lived in a studio apartment with a kitchen and living room, 14th floor of a neighboring high-rise building, fantastic view of Alexandria, fast internet, comfortable beds, very clean and comfortable. The check-in went quickly, we were immediately taken to the apartment, everything was explained and shown. There weren't utensils for cooking in the kitchen. During the check in we asked to bring plates, pan and etc and we were told that they going to bring it in the morning. But in the morning nothing was brought, we had to go down to the reception once again and remind about the kitchen utensils. Only after that they delivered the required. In fact, due to the lack of kitchen utensils, it made no sense to rent a studio that costs more than a regular room. We were unable to cook dinner for the children and had to go to a restaurant instead, and in the morning again we were unable to cook breakfast for ourselves and the child. When the cookware was finally delivered to us on the second day, it was just wonderful, but the first day disappointed us greatly.
