Exceptional. The staff is just excellent. The room was just great. Unfortunately, we got a room that has no view of the old city but anyway. Very positive memory about staying in that hotel, could easily recommend it to anyone.

What can I say? The 4.5 rating is quite objective. The overall feeling of the hotel is still in the last century: Facilities: very old, the room has a strong dusty smell, the door and the wall seem to have a gap, and there is still a big crack after closing it. The door next door makes a buzzing sound when it closes. I wanted to park the car underground, but I regretted it when I went down. There is no need to rebuild the set for shooting a horror movie in that environment; Hygiene: The mottled shower head silently tells that it has been in service for a long time. The white towel is a little black. I don’t know how many times it has been washed. The room is facing the sun, which is unbearable in this season. The room temperature is close to 30 degrees Celsius. The miserable thing is that there is no vacancy. Adjust, called the front desk and they said it won't be hot at night Environment: It should have a government background, the garden environment is still commendable, but you can still hear people singing outside the room at 10:30 pm, and someone set off firecrackers before 6 am, if it's a wedding, then we are unlucky Service: The service is still good, although the front desk is not very talkative, maybe it's too straightforward, the most amazing thing is the breakfast, which is absolutely up to standard, a little inconsistent with the old hardware, quite rich, and the quality is also very good I don't understand why the predecessor of Holiday Inn is like this, I sincerely hope that the hardware facilities can be improved, at least to be worthy of the standard of breakfast.

When we arrived we were given the wrong room in B tower with single beds, we had to go back downstairs and show the booking again to request the correct double room in A tower. The rooms and amenities are old, and the fridge is broken. I called reception who told me to bring any items I want to cool down to the reception and use their fridge, when I asked if we can swap the broken fridge for a working fridge, they said all of the fridges are like this. They won't admit the fridges are all broken, but all of the fridges in the hotel are warm and won't make your food / beverages cold. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade, and they need to replace the fridges.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights while exploring Datong and surrounding attractions. The location was perfect for us - nestled between both major train stations, a short walk to the old city, and conveniently very close to the bus station to the Hanging Monastry. The staff were very polite and helpful, some could speak some English. We were given various complimentary gifts and desserts during our stay. We loved the free tea (of various varieties) in the lobby! The room was a little old but clean, comfortable and quiet. I guess the only complaint is the elevator - they only have two but about 14 floors and it was utter chaos trying to move about in the morning when everyone wants to check out. Small issue though.

I loved this hotel. It has an old-fashioned charm that made me feel right at home. My room was very large, comfortable, and well-equipped. All of the staff and service people were extremely courteous from start to finish. The Chinese restaurant on the 7th floor has a great choice of dishes! Highly recommended, and excellent value for money. A great base for exploring the sights around Datong.

I am from Malaysia, totally obsessed with this place and location, the person in charge, the lady explained to us the story and the history of this 2000 years old building Old Pipa ,I know is the old building with historic but didn't know the much story behind until I Google it, very appreciated that we still able to enjoy such a beautiful and well maintained room and building . The room come with a/c,hot shower smart toilet bowl, slipper and toothbrush and kettle. Breakfast is good. Love it. Hope people that come to stay here spent some time on the architectural and antiques that display in the duilding. Will definitely introduce to my friends and family if they visit 山西。

Super! They have bathtubs (a rarity in China) and a swimming pool! I booked this place after leaving another hotel and had no idea it's has 5 stars. It's very fancy. The beds are incredibly soft and comfortable. The staff is generally kind and helpful, except for the restaurant staff, who seemed not very cultured. The hotel hosts a lot of businessmen and wedding parties, so you have a few guys smoking at in the hall at night, but it's not a big problem. The rooms are quite big so the noise doesn't carry very far.
